I'd ask him if he's pregnant. He missed a s__tload of periods. I'll take "things that look like a uterus" for $200 Alex.

I have thought a lot about why gun-store idiots are so dumb. I don't think they are dumb. I am a military armorer, been reading the gun mags since I was 5, and no one person can know everything. Cabelas in Maine used to piss me off something fierce. They had a newer (probably 1990's) English bolt rifle in 375. It was a nice gun, but it had about 4 things I didn't like about it. No drop magazine, safety was not M70 style or tang, and it had Talley mounts on it, instead of some thing classy and fitting it's $20,000 price tag. The Talley's weren't so horrible, bu they didn't fit the color scheme of the bluing and case hardening on the action. So they looked like aftermarket non fitting wrong color parts. I was joking with another rifle nut about the gun and we were making fun of it. One of the Cabelas gun room staff was pissed that we couldn't see the beauty in it, and the guy was pissed. Told us we didn't know anything. At the end of the day a guy can't know everything. There are too many different firearms, and I;ll be the first to admit I don't know much about pistols or shotguns. We were at a local sporting goods store last weekend, and a gentleman walked up to the gun counter, and said he was looking for a .22 rifle that fired .22 S, L and LR
Guy behind the gun counter said "there is no such thing"
Shook my head and walked off.
Heard a similar request not long ago with almost the same response. After the guy walked off. I caught up with him and showed him a Remington 552 Speedmaster on the used gun rack. He left with it happy. Simply amazing the lack of knowledge some of the people behind the counters these days.

Back to that post again, it's a Sunday and I am cooking family lunch.
The biggest problem with them, is they get asked questions daily about firearms that are severely technical. Instead of losing face they guess, and if they don't know they lie about it.
I don't knock them for not knowing everything that is impossible, I knock them because they rarely have enough knowledge to answer correctly when it really matters.

Some of the dumbest things I have seen them do are argue with customers over a customer's wanting of a certain caliber.

Especially when the rifle is sitting on the shelf, ready to sell and they talk the customer out of that caliber.

I would recommend this post as a starting place. Question about idiotic internet advice and before page one is full the subject has jumped to advice given in retail stores.

A few years ago, the "lease boss" told us not to pee in the field because deer would avoid that area for over 5 years afterward. He was a really likeable, educated, successful guy, just a little misinformed on deer hunting.

Worst one ever!!!!!!!! After my first buck kill, my uncle told me I had to wipe the musk glands dry with my bare hands, rub that on my clothes, and then I could be in "their hunting club"!

"you should always wear a shirt while hunting" LOL! That's pretty much the mental picture I have of all the "I never miss/I never lose one" internet Annie Oalkeys and Fred Bears.
I learned long ago you can't reason someone out of something they don't reason themselves into.

I think I hold the trophy for most gullable! Even though I was only 9 yrs old I once ate a couple of raw goose hearts to become a member of a "hunting club." That was well over 20 years ago and I'm still hunting regularly with those yahoos. For me, a couple of goose hearts has paid off with lifelong hunting buddies. .

This is not related to guns but fishing. I once had a guy try to tell me that the reason trout jump in a lake was to release their eggs since there was no running water to help push them out. I nearly died right there and then from laughing. Obviously the guy didn't know what the hell he was talking about.

Had a guy try and tell me one time that once you have your scope zeroed in, it doesn't matter what angle you cant it at, even if you lay it on its side, and shoot, you will always be dead on.
