This could get interesting- what is the single most idiotic piece of advice you've ever seen given (hunting related) on an internet forum?

I was reading a thread about broadheads for youth bows and had a guy recommend aiming for the white patch on the deer's throat. His reasoning was that there was no bone in front of the vitals.

Them dern pencil thin ribs are notorious for stopping arrows in their tracks...

Funny thing about getting older:
Your eyesight starts getting weaker but your ability to
see through people's BS gets much better.

I can't believe some of the advice people ask on here, and a couple other forums, some have no cognitive skills of their own and the information passed to them is laughable....Google can be your friend.

i've read in a lot of different
places where folks say to hold
on so and so spot at so and so
long range when hunting and you'll
be dead on even with a short range
sight-in even though all knowledgeable
hunters know that it's highly unethical
to do so and that every firearm patterns
different with different ammo and different
lot numbers of ammo and that the only
surefire and ethical way to be sure
of a clean one shot humane kill is
to sight in the rifle you intend to use
with the exact ammo you intend to
use at the same yardage you intend to shoot
at.

that and reload data that's obviously
way over maximum published data.

Oh I won't even go into some of the idiocy I've seen given as advice in reloading forums. We're pretty lucky here with guys like kmon1, ChadTRG42 and the like, they bring a lot of experience to the table.

I saw a dumbarse post on here a couple of years ago from a big time sausage making expert. He told the forum that pink curing salt was nothing more than iodized salt and could be used like normal salt.

I think "lil chit" is presently being spanked by the stewards on the wall of shame. I miss his thoroughly thought-out advice & experiences. :0) Hang in there little buddy!

I am leaning towards the greatness of 223 for deer hunting and mech. broadheads being the greatest thing since sliced bread! bolt

Deer love cigarette butts. They tend to clog a spin type feeder though. Best to use a free choice type.

We were at a local sporting goods store last weekend, and a gentleman walked up to the gun counter, and said he was looking for a .22 rifle that fired .22 S, L and LR

Guy behind the gun counter said "there is no such thing"

Shook my head and walked off.

Heard a similar request not long ago with almost the same response. After the guy walked off. I caught up with him and showed him a Remington 552 Speedmaster on the used gun rack. He left with it happy. Simply amazing the lack of knowledge some of the people behind the counters these days.
