The new lease we looked at today has lots of the big red ant beds around so hopefully we'll get to see some of these cool little critters in the wild again.

Great pic. When I was a child living here in Mesquite we had them in our neighborhood. Played with them alot as a child. Pesticides eventually wiped them out. The last time I saw one was a few years back in Young County during deer season. We walked up on two of them less than 30 yards apart. Was it pesticides that killed them? I have read that fire ants depradation of harvester ants (which is a staple in the toads diet) that did them in???? I havent seen a horned toad or a harvester ant in 20 years!

I have seen about 8 or 10 this year in frio county, but I've never seen a baby, cool.
