[Do I wish I had gotten something better? Yes. Do I plan to replace it any time soon? Nope - it works, and it is paid for. Can you even finance a rifle?
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Some pawn shops in my area have lay-away now. they do have lay away in my area, and some will even give a 30 day no questions asked return policy on firearms. so shoot it and make sure it shoots well and functions properly.

H&R 25.06 good for deer and hogs but not to big for a cat. 270 or 30.06 way to big for shooting cats,
Hope you are talking about bobcats right,

I have a 770 and it works fine. As someone else mentioned, it's not the smoothest action out there - but it was cheap, and as such I have no fear of tearing it up "in the field". Still, listening to some of the banter on this site and others - I decided I'd be "too embarassed" to show up with a 770 so I picked up its big brother - an absolutely stunning 700 with a fluted stainless steel barrel and beautiful engraving on the stock. Trouble is, the rifle to too pretty to take into the field... So I'm still hunting with the 770...

I've got a Mosin as well but from what I've heard the FMJ mil-surp ammo is not effective on hogs. Are you using FMJ on them with success?

Hope you are talking about bobcats right, How do you figure a 25-06 for pigs but to not enough for cats????? I shoot hogs with .300 win mag and .444 marlin when I am hunting for hogs. I would shoot a cat with 22-250 as long as you hit the vitals he is dead.

You can pick up the Weatherby Vanguard in Houston any caliber for $350 and even finance it for 6 months. Depends on what you want to spend.
