light color dont really matter if you plan on leaving it out i use white light and after a few days they got to where it don't bother them when it turns on but blue will make blood stand out better makes it look a blackish color

Thanks EastTxP . Yeah plan on leaving them out all the time. Lights are LED and have solar panel on battery. I had thought about white lights but thought it would scare them off. Sounds like if needed I can do that..thanks!

X2 I used a white solar powered motion light under my feeder and after 48 hrs in all game cam pics they were used to it. I've never seen blue lights used. What kind of range do you achieve?

Here are the lights all finished. I also posted a pic of the battery box. It has a photocell switch on it. The lights come with the plastic chrome finish on them I painted them flat black.

blue light is fairly comparable to green light just a little less visibility at range, but with those LED's you should be fine I have seen them on trucks at night and they are nice and bright. With good optics it shouldn't matter too much you should be able to see pretty well just in blue something else that you can try (but you got to have your light anchored REAL GOOD)I have a 6' T post that I drive about 3 feet in the ground and slide my mount pipe which is about 4' long on then wrap the whole thing in an old sheet that I soak in diesel for them to rub on so that they get in nice and close to the light but like i said have it set in good or they will bust it all to pieces

Well pafree I did some testing on that. I was a bit surprised too! I checked the voltage on the battery before plugging the lights in it was 12.5 volts. I ran the lights for 10 hours and rechecked the battery it checked 12.4 volts. Since I work 2nd shift made it easy for me to take the battery outside after the 2nd check and place so the sun would hit the panel. I place some test leads on the battery so that my wife could check the voltage on the battery when it got dark while I was at work. The battery tested 12.58 volts. So the panel was charging back what I lost when running the lights and just a bit more. I also have a blocking diode on the positive side of the panel so I don't lose anything I've gained.

which and where did you get that solar panel? raccoons pulled my on timer feeder down into the water and i am going to get a external power source and thought about running a battery setup like yours to run the feeder and lights.

Well got a hog under the new blue lights! Results were this... The lights lit up the whole area, when you look at it with the naked eye it looks foggy. However when you throw the scope up it's clear as a bell. When the hogs came in I could see them in the brush moving around.. with the red I couldn't. The wife and I were sitting at a distance of 100 yards, the lights we roughly about 15 yards from feeder. So now thje wife wants a set for her feeder too..lol!! Maybe I can improve on this next set!

Maybe I can improve on this next set! what would you improve? do you think if the lights were mounted to the top (maybe 9 to 10 feet up) of a feeder would give enough light at the ground?

Not sure how I can improve on them yet. I've got them on the ground now. About 60 inches high aimed right in the center of the feeder. I don't think mounting them on the feeder will make it better. However I have not ruled that out yet. I noticed in my camera pictures that they are not very clear.( at night) I know that light is causing that. The hogs were not bothered at all by the light either were the coons. I may try a remote switch on the next one just to see what works best.

Well they are bright on lease not so much here in town. Like I've said with the naked eye at 100 yards looks like a haze or a fog til you throw the scope on it and its clear. Didnt bother the hogs either!
