Then our tractor and called at lunch and said im headed home. But the neighbor needs his tractor so go get it for him. What a great guy

But you better hang on!

There was also a thread a while back on "how to get unstuck" or something like that.

Back in my old Jeepin' days, a bunch of us went up to Lake Texoma when the water was way down. We started driving around on the "dried" lakebed. Dry is relative, right? The top crust was dry. Just under the crust is was like pudding. The lake literally looked like pudding that someone left the Syran wrap off of and stuck it in thr frig. Cracked and dried out on top and soft, moist pudding underneath.

The first Jeep got stuck, so someone drove out that way to help him and got stuck. I think we ended up with 3 vehicles stuck. We had to use shovels to quickly get the goo away from the tire and then stick something under it. We also had to use Hi-Lift jacks that we placed on pieces of plywood with logs under it. Then, we hooked up 5 (FIVE) jeeps, some with winches, some with tow straps. Eventually, we got all the Jeeps out, but it was one messy group of people after digging around in that pudding.

The ground was so soft that you could stand on one of the crusty dried out tops that were all in pieces and literally see yourself sinking. If a person got stuck in it and they were alone, I'll bet they would never get out. The vacuum that stuff creates is astonishing.

Good luck getting all the vehicles out.

Same thing happened on Lake Buchanan one year. Lake was way down and looked dry. I came upon a guy that was stuck and started helping him dig. The front sway bar had hooked over a stump keeping him from backing out.

Once we got the truck high enough to clear the stump a Dodge Cummins 4x4 came along and started pulling him out. His heavy front end nearly got him stuck but then the chain broke and caved in the tailgate of the stuck Ranger.

So the Ranger guy remembered he knew a guy nearby with a tractor so we went and got him. Just as we were getting back to the truck we turned around and the tractor guy was swinging wide to turn around. Nooo!!! Too late.

So then we went and got a guy with a backhoe. "Oh yeah, I know right where you're at. Got a guy outta there last week." The backhoe got them all out.

My family record is a jeep,a pickup, and a tractor (with front end loader) in the Sabine River bottom. Finally borrowed a much bigger tractor, put it on the only solid ground anywhere around and got them all out. It took two days and all the chain in town...The ruts made from pulling the smaller tractor almost sideways through the mud were over 2 1/2ft deep.

Dang Sig. I thought my little 32 horse JD was stuck bad. I got it out with a come-a-long.

You got me, that's a big tractor!
