That’s a fantastic way to start. When are you going back? That’s not very nice sneaky.

Welcome to THF ranchwagon. I can over look the unsweetened tea and the beans in your chili. Mrs Smokey likes beans in her chili and she is Ok. My first automobile was a Mopar. ‘68 Dodge power wagon. First year they had a big block V-8. Nice shop! Moved here from Southern California and the flat brimmed hat kinda starts you off in a box that is hard to get out of. Do you wear white sunglasses with the flat brimmed hat when out tooling around in your VW? Good call on the picture of the girl with the bug parked next to her. My answer would have been similar. A question of risk vs. reward… No left handed cigarettes here either, even though Norml is my friend.

that is only 1/3 of the shop, otherside is the break room and bathrooms, and saw room with the band saws, cold saw, surface grinder and material storage, compressors, etc. other side is the qc/clean room with cmm and then the office. i still have my old powerwagon, 1977 with a 440, 727, d60 and np203. friends want me do a 5.9 swap, but i allready have 5.9 in the megaslab, longbed mega... wait for it...with the stupid mud grapplers poking out. fiberworxs 4" wider,4" taller front fenders. none of that wheel spacer nonsence, just huge front hub killing offsets.and big front ranch bumper from my lurking before joining the forum i knew the flat brim, beans, and being from so calif would go over fantastic! have not wore any white sunglasses for about 10 years, when i did tho... i had them yuge white fly eyes costas with green lenses. all my friends gave me hell for wearing " ladies sunglasses " hahahaha. might as well pour the rest of the gas on the fire.... i have pretty thick skin and expect no less from the forum. i am a round toe, wedge sole work boot guy, i tried squares but running lathes and having to stick my foot in the footswitch pedal to open and close collet/chuck on the cncs, just did'nt work for me. i think i am just outside the triangle, but i tell friends about it and to keep the dogs from roaming out of sight and getting into trouble.

freerange suggested an intro, so here goes... moved to Texas in 2009 from.... you guessed it so calif. a little backstory. i started working for my old boss in 1992. he was born and raised in san antonio, after Vietnam he moved to so calif and ran a little machine shop. in 2004 he had had enough and moved back to Texas. in 2009 i moved out here to run the shop because of his failing health, he passed away in 2015 and i could either spit the profits from selling off the shop with his wife or spend the next ten years making payments to his wife. i took a chance and bit off alot more then i could chew, plus i found out shop was 30k in the debt. sometimes you gotta take the good along with the bad. i have about another year then i am paid off, the shop, land, and the equipment. knocked off that 30k debt in the first year. couple years ago started looking for a little place to get away. got a small place only 50ac but its within a tank of gas... yep out in edwards county... i know many just call them mouth breather ranches, but its olny way for a little guy to afford any land without breaking the bank. hunting has been pretty good so far, love shooting the hogs, i have been camping since i was little and always been an outdoors person mostly backpacking and fishing. alot of trips to the eastern serrias up hwy395. ok now the really important stuff.... ice tea- i prefer unsweet or sun tea. i drink a gallon of tea a day in summer to keep cool, but sweet tea does have its place, like with fried chicken, corn bread, and beans. trucks- dodge, i have always been a mopar fan. baseball hats- yep flat brim all day, chili- ill take mine with beans please, chili without beans is just kinda like hot dog sauce, i know them is fightin words to some on here hahaha . for guns... rifle-350 legend most of my shooting is about 50 yards from the feeder, pistols- im a wheel gun guy, but i put together one of those gucci ghost gun g19 copies, i use it mainly for a flashlight walking to and from the blind. you might tell from the username i do like me some aircooled vws and have a few of them. i have learned alot just lurking, and there is so much good info here to be had. thanks! GG is going to flip out. Our resident English teacher. Maybe at least a few hard returns for a new paragraph and capitalize new sentences?? Sure helps these old eyes. I don’t bother reading long paragraphs like that.

Enough on your shop and home state, how are your hunting skills, can you age and size on the hoof, what Outdoor Channel shows do you watch, what kind of caliber and bullet do you shoot, meat hunter or trophy hunter, Blacktail or Whitetail, can you tightly group 3 successive shots at range? Let's hear about those things so we know what you bring to the THF table. Welcome, btw

So Cal and a VW fan huh? Here's a test....and welcome to the forum. What do you see? I will tell you right now, the two kids in back are looking at the wrong tailpipe! I would certainly like my exhaust pipe attached to those rear end bumpers, I bet the ones up front are just as nice Nice patina Those finder skirts do have some nice curvature to them

A Democracy is when two wolves and a lamb vote on the dinner menu. That is why this country was specifically not designed as a Democracy. We are a Constitutional Republic.
