As pointed out in another post USPS was created in the Constitution. They are not trying to make a profit they provide a service. They are not a private business so any changes to their structure or operations have to either come from the legislative branch or the executive branch.

On Feb 20th, I mailed two small boxes to a sister in Natchez, MS. One arrived promptly. The other went to Coppell, then to Ft Worth, then to Jackson MS, then to Shreveport, then to Dallas, then to Ft Worth again. Lord, give me strength.
Should I just let this play out, or would trying to contact these morons help the process? My experience has been that UPS Ground is not much more money (and often less than USPS) and it gets to the destination in ~3 days. I'll use USPS to mail the rare letter, but I just don't use them at all for any packages.

Time for them to close their doors.
99 percent of my mail is junk. Junk mail should cost twice as much. Trailer registration and property tax bill are the only things I get that aren't junk. Trailer registration I have to mail in but I don't need to get tax bill in the mail. The city of Fate now has an email option for water bills so 1 less piece of non junk mail.

Prior to about 8 months ago, we often went 2 - 3 days without getting mail, then the box would be overflowing. It almost seemed like we are on twice a week delivery. Amazon packages would be shown as delivered to our mailbox on days there was nothing. There were days I watched the letter carrier drive past a all 5 homes in view from my office window without stopping at a single mailbox. That changed like you had flipped a light switch. There are still problems, but at least she stops each day. What caused the change? Informed Delivery because available on our route. If you are not signed up for that, DO IT. You get daily emails showing pictures of every 1st class mail item, most bulk main, and notifications of packages. https://www.usps.com/manage/informed-delivery.htm
We all need to practice Whoa more.

Update, as if it matters. Here’s the path: Groesbeck Feb 20th, to Ft Worth, to Jackson MS, to Shreveport, to Dallas, to Ft Worth, to Groesbeck, to Coppell, to Ft Worth, to Thornton (but not sent back to us), to Ft Worth, to Dallas, to Shreveport, to Jackson MS today. It’s possible that maybe this time it’ll make it to Natchez, but my confidence is low.

I used to ship a lot of stuff USPS, but less of it now as UPS is indeed often cheaper and faster. I don't know what to think of the regular mail service anymore. I recently received a first-class letter from Cody Wyoming that took 10 days to reach Sweetwater. Odd thing is it showed up on my informed delivery list on the eighth day, was not delivered the ninth and finally arrived the 10th. But then a few months ago I had a first-class letter mailed from Katy take seven days to reach Sweetwater. What was that term coined by Kurt Vonnegut? Chronosynclastic infundibulum?

Rural Route carrier here is the absolute worst.
Have five packages that were due here 03/18/24 (tracking showed Out for Delivery).
Waited all day, nothing. Later get a notice that 4 of the packages were sent back to the main Post Office to have the address verified (supposedly incomplete address on FOUR packages from different sources) and the fifth stated the property was not 'accessible' at 9:10 p.m. My a$$ !
They have pulled this stunt before. When they just don't feel like delivering packages or its getting late in the day. Invariably the packages will magically show the next day, NO PROBLEM.
Post Master at main office 'has their back' and complaints get put in the round file....I am sure.

Well, my sent package is or was still ‘looping’. It came back to Groesbeck for a day, then back to Ft Worth, by way of Waco, then back once again to Groesbeck. At that point, my sister, who hopes to eventually get the package, said she got her USPS person in Natchez to intervene and have the package readdressed and set to her. Well, that sounds good, but we shall see. I have the tracking number partially memorized by now, as if that were a good thing.

I used to ship a bunch of parts overseas. For that the post office couldn't be beat if you were sending something small but very expensive. It was not uncommon for someone in Australia to receive a package 48 hours after I dropped it at the post office depending on the day of the week I made the drop. This was nearly a quarter century ago and I have no idea whether or not things have changed.

If your results are consistently poor, stop using USPS.
What pisses me off is when UPS passes final delivery to the USPS. Then it becomes a toss-up if you'll ever see it.

USPS strikes again.
Ordered a set of 3 spindles for my Zero Turn.
First set never showed up. Lost after it made it to the North Houston hub (quite possibly the worst in the nation).
Seller reshipped another set. These are coming out of Pasadena, Texas, I live about 3 hours North of there. Shouldn't take but 2-3 days.
Couple of weeks have passed now. I track the package. It actually made it through North Houston (a small miracle in itself) but they sent it to NEW ORLEANS. So no telling if it will ever get back here.
The level of ineptitude at USPS is astounding.

Wow! My sister did finally get that ‘looping’ package, and nothing was broken. I mailed two boxes on the same day, from the same place, same USPS woman, to the same address. One took 5 days and the other took 32 days. We are not amused!

I mailed a bill from Sanger to Collinsville , 20 miles , it took 10 days , past due when it got there That happened with a water bill for me once. Mailed from Gainesville to Gainesville and never made it. Had to cancel the check and take cancelled check notice to the City to get late fine waived. I use the night drop now. I buy and sell a good bit on the internet and I had a package I bought on eBay get from Memphis to Arlington in less than 24 hours where it sat four days before making the final 75 mile journey here.
Pass the gravy.

Originally I was just griping about those two packages I mailed, but that isn’t our only problem with the post office. We live 25 miles from our electric co-op, and any check mailed to them seems to not get there in time. It’s an ongoing problem. Mostly we just drive over, on the way to Waco, and drop it in their night drop. And when the wife sends out birthday letters to grandkids (with check), they get delivered about 90% of the time. 100% seems too much to hope for. The USPS is one entity where you don’t get what you pay for.

It's 2024, no need to write checks to pay bills. My mother is 74 and still writes checks and pays for stamps to mail paper checks for recurring bill payments. Despite me trying to convince her to shift to online bill pay, she still won't budge. It is incredibly more inefficient and time consuming, you have to pay for stamps, and you are relying on USPS. Makes absolutely no sense.

I ordered a Polaris carburetor kit on 3/8
Monday 3/11 - departed Hebron, KY Wednesday 3/13 - arrived and departed Cincinnati Thursday 3/14 - arrived in Tampa Thursday 3/14 - departed Tampa and arrived in Yarbor City, FL Thursday 3/14- processed through Ft Meyers, Fl Thursday 3/14- 10:27 P.M departed Ft Meyers Friday 3/15- 1:08 A.M. departed Ft Meyers Friday 3/15 - 4:09 A.M. arrived at Yabor City, FL Monday 3/18 - arrived in Ft Worth Tuesday 3/19 - arrived in Coppell
When I was in school we learned that the shortest distance between 2 points is a straight line. It is not surprising that USPS is not making money.
One day the little neighbor girl started yelling mister mister when I was in my driveway. She walked over with an envelope she found in her yard. It was a $4000 check.

I trust electronic payment at least as much as mail pay, which is very little confidence. I prefer the air gap of mail pay.

If he has grand kids, he might just be a baby boomer. I am gen X and write a check for my water bill still. I don't think all churches take online pay for tithe either. Not a problem for all people I guess.

Yup! And no apology for it. I have trust issues about a lot of today’s easy ways to do this or that. Me too. I 'trust' the USPS to deliver my mail and packages reliably about like I trust Mexican Tap Water or a Porcupine with a PET ME sign.

Day 14 and package still in Limbo.
It did move from New Orleans (where it should never have gone) a few miles down the road to Saint Rose. At this rate....I might get it sometime in 2054.
