Spent most of the day cleaning up backyard. Figured I would unwind and put a fire in the outdoor fireplace.
I can be a cheap azz, was driving down street a few weeks ago and saw some wood stacked up to be bulk pickup. Couldn’t really identify it.

Figured I would collect some. I fired it up and it smelled awful, hard to describe. I had to get hose out and shut it down. I’m guessing it was maybe a sweet gum or ash.

From now on, I will stick with oak, pecan, hickory, mesquite. Favorite is piñon or cherry.

Firewood is listed for free in craigslist or FB, most of the free is either cut up alread needing split or needs to be cut up. Most of the time from a tree that needs to be removed. [Linked Image] Only get oak. Or see Olthumper on here!!!
