I read the CNN report on the shooting, and nowhere was it ever mentioned that he was anything other than a woman…ever. Honestly, I only read their version to see what that version was. Otherwise CNN doesn’t exist in my world. Do they still show CNN on airport waiting room areas? I’ll ask my wife to look when she leaves for NYC on Thursday.

The cases were pled down to misdemeanors and the emergency mental detention doesn't meet the criteria for being adjudicated mentally defective. Based on what has been released, there's nothing that would have caused him to fail a NIC inquiry to purchase a firearm.

Lots of folks fixated on the fact she used a male name as an alias. I'm betting just a way to make cops have a harder time finding put who she really was, not a transitioning female or male..
No reports of her trying to transition and identifying as male.
Saddest part is the son getting dragged into this. Hope he recovers.

A lot of people are known to authorities but can’t be locked up forever because the constitution and our laws don’t allow that. He was mental app’d several times when he was found to be a danger to himself or others but a Dr let him go every time. As I stated above. An emergency mental detention doesn’t prevent a person from legally purchasing a firearm. The only way to change that is by congress changing the gun control act. That sounds like gun control to me so good luck figuring out how to make any of this better.
