Specifically about a Tremec 6060 6spd. 2012 Camaro SS w/65k miles on it that just developed a "clunk" emitting from the tailshaft area when taking up slack in the driveline. It's annoying as hell, and research shows it's common across several makes and models using the 6060, and dealers are telling everyone that it's normal. I call on that. It's not the u-joint, carrier bearing, rear end, or guibo. I can make it happen under the car turning the driveshaft back and forth by hand, it's coming from the transmission. Hoping to learn what it might be, and if it's something that an be dealt with from the tailshaft end or if the trans will have to come out to fix it? Thanks

Never heard of a "guibo".
Manuals are so rare and rarely break under warranty most dealer techs don't work on them much. I rebuilt one T-56 during an engine swap on a 2001 WS-6 Trans Am. Had a synchro and blocking ring issue. I think I had one NVG-4500 apart too.
That's in 31 years in the GM dealer game, 24 as a bumper to bumper technician.
Lots of forum posts about normal TR6060 noises. I found no relatable or applicable bulletins just now.
Not much can be done to a TR6060 in the car ...

I'd bet all the "google tech's " at most dealerships can't even drive the damn thing inside for the diagnosis.

A guibo is a rubber donut usually with 6 or 8 holes in it that connects two pieces of the drive shaft together either through two three bolt flanges or two four bolt flanges. They are fantastic at isolating driveline vibration but are somewhat delicate because you are transmitting all torque radially through a hunk of rubber although some of them are set up that after a specific amount of deflection the flanges go metal to metal on one another.
Pull the tail housing off of the transmission and inspect the bushing where the drive shaft yoke goes in and also get a dial indicator and check for play on the main shaft right as it passes through the rear bearing. No matter what you do you need to take the transmission out and disassemble it before it does enough damage to itself to get really expensive.
