Hard to imagine anyone with the capability to monitor/listen would not have heard the broadband signature of that implosion. It would have created a large cavitation as well, easily spotted on sonar.

They have been dead since about 1/20th of a second after the main ship lost contact with them. Composite materials are very strong until they are not strong. The tiniest void in the fibers that did not get filled with epoxy can be the intrusion path for water to get into the vessel. The moment Integrity is lost the vessel will collapse nearly instantaneously squishing everything inside of it into goop before they even know that it happened. @blkt2 called it.  Sadly this was right.

Agreed. I suspect even the ship that launched the sub heard the implosion (they shut down the wifi system to prevent anyone aboard from communicating). Complete waste of taxpayer money and time.

Tragic for the loss of lives for sure. They took a risk, and unfortunately paid the price with their lives. My question is, how much did the rescue operation cost. Not to be cold blooded, but they knew the possibility’s….

Can't imagine why the support vessel wouldn't have also seen the big bubble like a fart in the tub.
