Seems to be costing me money decided to learn guitar

I’ve tried and completed things I never would have even considered without the great instructions on YouTube

I rented skid steer/backhoe, graded out back deck area, dug headers, plastic/rebar, then poured 53 yards of concrete, colored it and stamped it it, then accented it and finished up.
I knew some basics already but really researched it as concrete is not where you want to screw up. The concrete alone ran me almost 10K. Me and one son did all the work besides a couple buddies on the pour days. Turned out great

It's saved me thousands of bucks for sure. Plumbing, appliances, vehicles, and especially the pool. I've rebuilt both pool pumps, changed out valves and actuators, replaced the heater ignitor and manifold... all thanks to handy videos.

yep saved me a bunch! a couple I think of:

*swapping the alternator out on the wifes late model SUV
*fixed a couple of pancake compressors that were not holding air. ~ $2 a piece
*my '03 lease truck had failures on the latch/linkage on the suicide doors. cost about $5 a piece to fix for the parts

always watch several videos to make sure the path you are on makes some sense is my only advice.

You Mean UTube university, used it alot very helpful.

It has honestly saved me thousands of dollars on various things with plumbing, lawn irrigation system, and various other things around the house.

Learning the intricacies of one thing often translates to another. Improving my fix-it skillset is always a good thing.

Most recently, close to $4500. The transom in my 2003 Lund was rotten. A place over in Winchester wanted $7k to replace it. I did the job for around $2500.

He forgot "investment".

Along these lines, it also saves you not just money but after hours when no one wants to even show up and something breaks at your house.

I just saved several hundred dollars by repairing my storm door.
I've learned to watch more than one video to make sure they all give the same advice. Just remember the person doing the video is experienced, and will make the project look easy. When you go to do it expect to hit a few snags since you'll be doing something your not used to.

Funny, I recently did the same with my sisters-in-law storm door. Spent $132 but saved probably $500 by not replacing. Now I need to research cleaning my ac blower motor wheel since my ac company wants $1700 to do it.

I think about this often. When I started working on Mustangs/ Fords in high school back in the 1900s there might have been one or two guys in town who knew how to do stuff. You had to go to their house and ask for advice. YouTube has changed the game in so many ways. Whether you're a musician, diyer or get your news. Game changing. I use it daily to learn. Immeasurable value regarding saving money on diy.

I taught myself guitar back in the 1900s sitting next to the record player picking up the needle thousands of times. Had no idea bands were tuning down a half a step so got pretty good at playing in weird keys. When I was playing in cover bands up till recently I used it all the time to learn parts of songs or songs... just watching someone play it was a huge time saver.

My fuel filler door would not shut on my F150, common problem. Watched a couple of YT videos and thought "I got this".
Went to AutoZone for the part, no gotee, order it would cost $59.00, drove up to the ford dealership 3 minutes down the road and it was $62.00 and got it.
While I was at the Ford dealership went into the Service dept and asked how much they would charge, he said they were six weeks out and at least $160.00 labor.

Took me about 15 minutes to take the old one off and put the new one in.

Cruise control not working now, ordered the Speed Control Inhibitor Switch should be in tomorrow. This one will be a challenge.

No way to put a number on it, but I have saved a lot of time and money. It might run into the thousands of dollars.
