YouTube (YT) has helped me save a lot of $$ since I am not particularly mechanically inclined.

Example my hot water faucet on my bathroom sink had been dripping for at least a week, thought about calling a plumber but did the YT search and found out that it was probably the Cartridge inside the handle.
Removed the old Cartridges, took them to Home Depot since it was close, they did not have that Cartridge but referred me to Apex Supply who had what I wanted.

Even though only one faucet was leaking I replaced all 4 in both sinks The Price Pfister cartridges were $25.00 each so I was out about $108. bucks plus time which I have plenty of and very little gas.
Wonder what a Plumber would have charged?

YT video's have saved me a nice chunk of change fixing my heater, car repairs and other things, the challenge is trying figure out who knows what they are doing in a reasonably short video.

Lots of time and lots of money.

It also lets me know when I need to call the expert and pay the $.

I use them often, no idea on savings. I’m always surprised to see the effort to chronicle their work, appreciative though.

Recently used YT on replacing a shower faucet cartridge that a plumber wanted to freeking take out a wall to fix. Also used on replacing the cabin air filter on my truck and repairing a Buddy heater. Many more over the years. $ in my pocket and the self-esteem for doing it myself.

YouTube is a prime example of the double-edge sword effect of the internet. Countless benefits like above, incredible documentation of all kinds of music, inspirational presentations...and then the stupid crap the kids watch. And the censoring.

The THF has saved me $ and given me great ideas too.

Not so much money saving but understanding how stuff works. I’m 80 years old and can no longer do a lot of the stuff I used to do.
I can go there and see what I’m dealing with instead of just blindly tearing stuff apart.

You can find just about any kind of information on yt anymore some great, some not so great.

YouTube is your friend.

I use them often and for many years now.

It has saved me a bunch of time and money. I was always the family fixer from teen years on, and now I can actually fix things properly that I once would have fixed ‘sorta’ and had leftover parts. And, I can research things to see if I have the right tools and parts before I I get started.

I call it YouTube University. I've used it alot. The thing I like is when I'm researching how to replace a part on my truck, lawn mower, etc. many times they'll say what size tool to use and any tricks getting things back in place. So yes I use it all the time. Cooking wise, I recommend Kent Rollins channel.

I've used it a number of times. Handy for finding that hidden bolt or nut that turns into a time suck on a job. Or seeing the pully pattern on a belt that's busted. A lot of times I don't find anything earth shattering that I wouldn't have figured out elsewise, but seeing all the tools and sockets or wrench sizes needed helps me get organized up front and that can make the job go much faster in saved trips back and forth to the tool box.

It hasn't really saved me much money. Prior to youtube, I would generally fix everything myself anyhow. However, What used to take me hours and hours to figure out, now takes me about 10 minutes on youtube. Invaluable in that respect.

I have saved a lot more money and time from YouTube than from the advice on here.

Use it a lot when I need to do something on an unfamiliar firearm. The GF's bread maker stopped kneading the dough a couple months ago. I figured it was the drive belt but after about 20 minutes of trying to figure out how to take it apart, I finally broke down and looked it up on youtube. Not in a million years would I ever have figured it out on my own.

Gotta be a ton. I rebuilt the instrument cluster in my car years ago. Was quoted $1000, I did it for less than $50 in parts in an evening or two after work.

I think my biggest savings was on the ex wife's 4runner. All 4 door lock actuators failed. Toyota wanted $1k a door to fix. All they were going to do was put a new actuator in, but the issue was the plastic gears inside breaking when the motor turned. Warranty was out so we were SOL, and some guys online claimed they'd had their actuators replaced 3 or 4 times by the dealer and they kept failing. I bought a pack of 4 of the motors with newly designed gears for $25 on Amazon. Found a YT vid that was terrible and poorly filmed but gave me just enough to figure out how to open the actuators up and replace the bad motor. Did all 4 doors in 6 hours for $25 bucks in parts. A lot better than 4k at the stealership.

HVAC repair has saved me bigtime.

Like everyone else says, it has saved me lots of time and money on repairs but…. It has also cost me money since I often see product reviews and end up buying stuff because of it. A double edged sword in that regard.

Good educational content, with the right search, supersedes poor content IMO. It’s worth watching multiple vids to verify some as well. I’m a fan but take some care for sure.

I have repaired washers, dryers, dish washers and so on. Tons of light to medium auto repairs that can really save some $. Right now I’m working on mole eradication. Little bastards are tough to find and harder to kill. I think my neighbor hates me and sends them over.

Time saved - more than I could imagine

Lots actually. It showed me how to fix many things, also how to break into my truck after my dog hit the lock while the truck was running.

Had a Samsung LCD TV that had picture problem and a Youtube video said to put a large paper binder clip on the top of the left corner. That fixed it and it lasted 3 more years like that.
