$1,700 for a two year old Chevy P/U in 1978. I started working at age 14 and saved 1/2 of the cash purchase, parent's matched the other half, but I had to pay my own insurance, maintenance and fuel. Sold it two years later for $1000 when I was appeased with a new car in return for moving and changing high schools my junior year.

In 1976 I bought a used 1972 F-100 Ranger XLT for $2100. It was being used for towing goose-necks, so it had a utility flat bed on it. After I had already made the deal, the guy said "If you want the original bed, its in the barn, under some hay bails. The bed turned out to be almost perfect.
My first new car was a 1980 Chevy Monza. The "My mom had once dated the dealership's owner price" was $3,800 out the door. I wrote a check.
We all need to practice Whoa more.

50 bux for a 55 Plymouth Belvedere in 68. It's a shame what I did to that poor car.

!957 Ford Fairlane, a $100, some Airman got orders for Vietnam and posted it on the bulletin board as I was looking, I said I would buy it, he said he needed it for 2 weeks before he left, I agreed and and we went to see my old man. My old man was his First Sergeant, the day he shipped out, we transferred papers and money.

$250 in 1963 for a '54 Ford two-door, straight six, 3-speed on the floor, hot stuff! Sold it to my neighbor for his son, two years later, the day before I joined the Army.

I’m glad I am too young to see the days where 60’s and early 70’s muscle cars were sub $1k.....I would still be kicking myself for getting rid of them.
1985 Toyota single cap pickup $1k.

In 1971, I paid $1550 for a 69 Camaro Z28 and sold in 1975 for $900. Today, that car would be worth a lot of money.

1978 Camaro that I bought new with $$$ I had been saving for over 5 years working summers and odd jobs. I gave $4800 on the show room floor. Should have bought 10 of them at that price.

My first new car was a 1972 Chevy Vega 3 door wagon. Paid $1,700, I sold it to a friend when I came home from serving in the USMC to buy a new 1974 Toyota Land Cruiser. $4,400.
