i have tried some cabelas brand boots in the past, they were hard and uncomfortable. didn't move with my foot at all, felt like id get a blister right there in the store... i hate ordering online things that you have to wear, never fit like you like... still looking though

+1 on Danner but I wear the Sierra. Waterproof and light. I started wearing Danner in the military because they were so durable and comfortable. I still have my last pair from 1997 when I got out. They are still comfortable and waterproof!

Unlike the Pronghorns, my Danners are all made in USA. You pay more but they last. I wore one set on duty every day for 10 years before I had to trash them. They were sent back to Danner for new soles and refurbishing twice. What other boot company does that. I'm retired now and have another set I'm wearing. These will last a life time for me.

I picked up some of Cabelas Denali by Meindel in the bargain cave. I got these specific for backpack hunting in public land areas. I had to stretch the narrow toe box out a bit but I like them so far.

Danner is having a sale on their factory outlet website right now.

http://www.hitthebreakroom.com/invite/?r=134798

You have to sign up to see the sale but they do not spam your email, they only email to notify when they are having a sale. I've bought 3 pairs off of the site at a significant savings.
