Hey guys. What kinda boots do y'all wear? I've been wearing pull ons or a pull on snake boot forever. Sprained my ankle very bad a month or so ago and then again 2 weeks later. Dr really wants me wearing lace up boots on uneven ground. Looked at some under armor boots that were pretty comfortable. Any thoughts on good waterproof, comfortable lace ups for hunting?

me too.... That was the Rocky goretex boots 35 years ago but no idea now... Plenty out there with refridgerator prices but you just never know. Skip the waterproof and find a source for the army combat boots (not copies) that was being issued in the 80's and you'll be good... Used to wear the jungle boots all the time, but don't think I'd trust them where you folks have sneaky snake to deal with.....

The Danner Pronghorn is the only boot I've ever be able to wear comfortably right out of the box. I've got a pair on right now that I wear everyday because they are comforable. I've had this pair for over 2 years and the pair before these was over 3 years old when I retired them. I think they are about 189.00 give or take a few bucks. Not the cheapest but not the most expensive either. Good Luck with your choice, Baker

Fellas, If you want a good pair of boots, a pair that will a long time, try Bates or Belleville. these boots are made for the U.S. military. You can get them non-insulate, to water proof. Ever how much money you want to spend on a pair, I just wish they were this good when I was in, the leather is real and made in the good ole U.S. of A. check it out.

I'd say spending around 200 or less is reasonable.

I broke the ankle last Nov and have had to go to lace ups. I prefer my Danners Meindl and Gokey lace ups These or I wear twisted x leather laces up that are some of the most comfortable good looking and rugged boot/shoe I have ever come across. I have quite a few pairs great for light hiking or walking with a lot more ankle support than slip ons and they keep you close to the ground. Durable enough to wear at the ranch and great for everyday wear.

I like my Danner lace ups but I have a pair of Twisted X pull on work boots that are out of this world comfortable. Probably can't go wrong with either.

I still have that pair and use them for hunting season only for WT and MD. First pair of boots I ever put on I could wear all day long the first day with no discomfort at all.

I looked online at the Danner Pronghorns and a couple of reviews said the waterproof failed - overall reviews are good - any of you with these boots had any issues with being waterproof? Thanks

Look on eBay for the Danner Pronghorn and you'll get a better price than Cabela's, Bass Pro, etc. They are running $125-150 on eBay.

Danner. Buy 1 pair and be done for a long while. I have one of my hunting pairs over 15 years old! I now have 3 pairs.

Belleville, made in USA. They have several styles for around $100. I have a pair that I have been wearing to work for well over a year now,no problems. Chippewa, some made in USA,some not. I have 3 US made pair of these. They hold up well. I just bought some logger style. Seem comfortable, going to try them for hunting.

You might get caught in a real gully washer some Friday night. You could always fill them with water one night and check the next morning to see if they have leaked.

A lady went into a bar in Austin and saw a cowboy with his feet propped up on the table. He had the biggest boots she'd ever seen. The woman asked the cowboy if it's true what they say about men with big feet (being well endowed). The cowboy grinned and said, 'Sure is, little lady. Why don't you come on out to the ranch and let me show you?' The woman wanted to find out for herself, so she spent the night with him. The next morning she got dressed and handed him a $100 bill. Blushing, he said, 'Well, thanks, ma'am. I'm very flattered. But you don't have to pay me.' 'Don't be flattered... take the money and buy yourself some boots that fit.'

I just bought a pair of lace up work boots. The new Cabela's Roughneck. I tried on the Danner Pronghorns and they hugged my foot real nice, but they seemed to crush my ankle. Not saying they're bad boots, but they just didn't fit my particular case right. The Cabela's brand seems sturdy and feels good to me. Plus Cabela's didn't have the Danner work boots in stock, just the Pronghorn, which is for hiking. I needed a thick leather boot to stand up to what I do. Only $139.99 and they feel pretty good. I know you're looking for hiking boots, but I figured I would give my opinion of Cabela's brand boots.
