Cough....BS

Reload after 5 shots...unless you use an extension, which are total crap IMO...give me a 30 round clip
More gunner fatigue.....
Buckshot runs around $1.50 per shell for 3in..... $.44 for a PMC FMJ....
I have seen more follow up shots required with buckshot than a FMJ well placed in the front 1/3....

That's awesome! Who cares how much ammo you use....when you are paying $500 an hour to fly, ammo is cheap.

And for everyone who says they were wasting ammo...go try shooting a moving target with a rifle while you are moving yourself. Not easy.

I would love to do this one day!

Shotgun with buck shot is the only way to go. I have done it with AR and Benelli M4. Price of ammo is a non-issue with the price of these adventures. Even with buckshot if you don't shoot them in the front half they wont drop. Warning Helihog hunting is addictive if you go once you will go again.

I agree. Who bought the ammo? He did. Who rented the helicopter? He did. I have no clue why people have to dog a man on how he spends his money. He didn't shoot enough in my opinion! I'm pretty sure no ones electricity or water was turned off because he wanted to go shoot pigs out of a helicopter. Sounds like the jealous "experts" have struck again. bang

This looks like a blast!! Cant wait to do it so I can be a expert too!

Grinning.....No expert I guess. Just been doing this since 1995 when the state first made it legal to shoot hogs out of a helicopter for private landowners. First as a gunner, and now have had a helicopter service of my own for 8 years. This was well before the state changed the laws allowing the sale of "hunts." And if you read back, my reply was not directed to the Op, but to a post about "saving ammo." I could care less how anyone spends their money, etc. I'm not forced to guess and when you compare apples to apples, I know what is cost effective and saves ammo....in the right hands of course.

I turn off peoples water every day for non-payment. I would much rather buy ammo and helicopter hunts than water but if I had to choose I would keep the water on. But I would like to do the other sometime soon.

+1...it's the Op's time & money...if he had fun then so be it and hats off to him! If I ever get the time I would like to try it and will most likely burn through a bunch of ammo myself!

And I doubt I can shoot any better than that.

I'm sorry, I guess my buddy that has a service that does this as well doesn't know what he's talking about. But then again, having a very well experienced pilot can get you a lot closer and make it much easier.

This thread was just full of hard-[censored] internet wisdom.

Cool video, thanks for sharing.

Oh, and NEXT TIME BE MORE PREPARED TO DO IT LIKE OTHER PEOPLE WOULD HAVE. YOU KNOW, 2 PIGS PER SHOT, ZERO MISSES.

Thanks in advance.

Cool video, thanks for posting. That's a bucket list hunt for me. I got to go ride in the jeep a few Sunday mornings ago with the helo herding hogs to us and giving us heads up on the radio where they were. Tons of fun. I thought I was a pretty good shot with an AR and those hogs made me look bad. I was using that AR as a lead pump and emptied a 60 rd surefire mag several times. We had three AR's an SKS and a 12GA Saiga in the Jeep. The big hogs usually peeled off from the herd and we stayed with the herd. The driver told me to bring soft points but I only had one mag full of soft points and the rest were fmj's. Much better kill ratio with the soft points, I wont be cheap next time.

Hate to admit it, but heck, after I shoot the first one of a group of hogs at my ranch (from a solid rest off the front porch), I have almost that many misses shooting at the rest of the group of little piggies who are scattering like crazy! I suspect I would really waste a lot of ammo from a helicopter, but would love to try it one day, lol!
