We went blasting pigs from a chopper a couple weeks ago. Killed just north of 200 the first day and 90 the second day, total of about 10 hours of flying.

I could tell you were shooting a 223. If you went up to 300 blk out, you can get a lot more first round kills and use less ammo. There is a noticeable difference between the 2 on effectiveness.

+1!! When you have to lead them from behind it really messes with the way you naturally shoot.

Do you just leave the pigs?

Several guys went up with blackouts (even .308 and 7.62x39) and it doesn't make too much of a difference in this application. The pigs have a huge adrenaline dump, with the chopper chasing them the only time you would put them down in one or two shots is via head or spine shots.

I get that a lot and its a lot tougher than it looks. I've been 9 times now, probably totaling 20 flights and I can still say that I've had some pigs make me look silly

Yea, it's nothing to put 3-4 rounds of .308 soft points into a running hog and not even know you hit them. 5.56 is about twice as bad. Normally, only a head or spine shot will stop them with one round. Shooting from a moving heli takes some practice and isn't something the average shooter is going to be good at without some practice.
