1. I understand that you weren't talking about your deer being old. I wasn't talking about the other deer, as I referenced the weak G4s, which that deer doesn't have.
2. I guess I was confused on why you started this thread based upon your comments. I thought you were debating shooting the deer you posted.

Deer I posted walks regardless if 13 or not. Just looking through pictures though and wondered what everyone thought about the 13” rule is why I posted. It looked close to me so wanted to see what others thought.

Personally, I wouldn't take it. He is probably over, but I prefer to err on the side of caution.

Shoot now and measure later.

That deer is a trophy to me and for someone to say no it's not a trophy until it's a half inch wider pi$$es me off.

ARs are stupid, “Many laws as certainly make bad men, as bad men make many laws.”

I have to laugh at these discussions.....in my opinion it is a shame we are even having such a discussion.
The deer looks mature and I think is over the stupid AR rule.

I do agree with the gentleman who mentions that if a panel of THF experts are is disagreement as the width then how does a hunter makes an accurate judgment on the spot in potential low light conditions?

And for all those fellow who say they would let him pass, I sure would like to see the trophy's on their wall because this looks like a good shooter buck to me and could easily be one of the best bucks on this piece of property.

I love the rule but I know there are plenty that don't. It definitely isn't perfect but it works on our place.

He may be right on the mark, but I'm letting him walk. I made my mind up that if I can't actually see daylight between the tip of the ear and the main beam on each side, then he walks. I don't need a deer that bad.

Well, using the TPWD's diagrams as a guide I would say not legal:

Any game wardens out there that want to chime in and help? These are decisions we are faced with.

I think it is a good deer but too close for me to call. I personally won't pull the trigger if it won't beat what is already on the wall. Because of that I don't shoot many bucks. I do believe the law leaves ALOT of grey area for us hunters to sift thru.

Still like to hear a game wardens clarification.

That deer is legal. Good to see more deer from Palo Pinto.
