Kind of like the one I posted a few weeks back. I can maybe see if he's a true 160+ class deer... this guy had a 14" pencil horn 8pt. Maybe he was really proud Another good one is when a Suburban or Expedition has one of those bumper racks loaded down with deer
I'd ask him if he's pregnant. He missed a s__tload of periods. I'll take "things that look like a uterus" for $200 Alex.

Why are you so worried about other hunters egos? If my ego is so big it intimidates you I suggest you get a pair. I don't hang a head on a wall or have a rack visible in my truck for my ego. My ego is big enough already. We work hard for the deer we take. And we work hard taking care of the meat, and if we are lucky, the trophy antlers as well.

Try it in a crew cab hauling 2 deer and an 18 month old, 4 year old and a 5 year old...you know how much crap they need for 3 days???
Just curious though, what exactly bothers you about it? That they are showing off? That they actually shot ones who's horns were big enough stick up from the bed of the truck.
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

No problem for me either. I like to see people display there deer. Reminds me of what it was like when i was a kid. Everybody hung the deer out in the tree out front or the porch. Of course this was up north and cold so u could do it.

Sure to get a pot stirring on this. Why do some hunters "strategically" place their deer antlers in the bed of their truck so the horns and hoofs are there for all to see? I see it most on opening weekend and Thanksgiving weekend. What is anyone gonna say as you are traveling down the highway at 70 mph? Oh wow, nice rack! Then wife slaps you you. Seriously, what's the point? Here let me translate. I haven't shot a buck yet this year and it seems like everywhere I look somebody has a monster in back of their truck. It's not fair, I wanna shoot a big buck and show it off too!! Just having fun!

I don't do it but I do enjoy looking at other's racks while driving. If I see a truck that is obviously a hunter on the interstate I'll speed up just to peek over in his bed and see what's there. Saw 2 MONSTER deer in the bed of a truck this past weekend on I 20 on the way home.

Makes it harder for me to admire the trophy they took while diving 70.

I have no problem with it. Some folks are proud of their trophy and I happened to like seeing the nice deer on the ride home today. I think they should keep it clean, but nothing wrong some antlers displayed. I put it in the bed with the gate closed, but I am not going to make an extra effort to make sure you can't see the antlers.
And frankly, I could give a rats --- what some tree hugger driving down the highway thinks about me hunting and don't make an effort to hide what I enjoy, but I am not going to make an effort to rub it in. x2

I shot a doe over thanksgiving weekend near Bandera so I could take it to a processor in castroville. Since I was going 300 miles from home with the wife and kids we drove my wife's SUV. I put the doe on a hitch carrier vs risking getting a drop of blood on the interior or carpet. Brought a tarp to cover it for the 45 minute drive to the processor but after a brief discussion that eneded with the land owner saying "nobody cares around here" I decided to forgo the hassles of wrapping it up and went tarpless. No weird looks, honks, or finger gestures as I drove down the highway. Wasn't trying to show off or brag by any means but had no real good alternative other than getting messy myself. Texted a photo to a few hunting buddies and got two "awesome/nice" comments and another "I cant believe you did that" suggesting that it was wrong. In the end I remeber countless deer strapped to the roofs and hoods of vehichles when I was younger before most hunters had trucks, and see no problem with it bragging or not.

Here's what is worse. Someone has a whole deer with the skin still on in the trailer or on top of a 4 wheeler, in 64* weather. That's gonna be some good meat. and add the fact that it was shot Saturday morning

Comming home from missouri a couple weeks ago. No problem with showing one off IMHO. We got plenty of thumbs up. Nothing huge but had a great hunt.

To add to this we were on a 5 day hunt. The truck was filled to the max. Backseat and bed. So i cant say we trid to deliberately place the heads here but we really had no other choice.

Personally I like the display, but if that is filled to the max you pack very poorly wll just meaning the backseat was full to where i couldnt use my rear mirror and the truck bed was full to the top of the sides. I could have fit more but it would have been above the truck sides of the bed.

Seriously, what's the point? When transporting harvested whitetail the carcass should always positioned below the antlers. Doing so stymies the capillary pressure of fluids exiting tissues as they begin the decomposition process. The result is reduced shrinkage of the antlers which can contribute 1-3 inches to dried out score depending on the antlers being scored. Probably just nerd hunters.

Myself, I don't want anybody seeing what I have killed. The meat is in the ice chest and the horns I try to hide. I just don't want any added attention to myself. Saying that, I don't care what you do to show yours off. I do get annoyed when I see someone carrying an exposed deer in or on their vehicle when its hot outside.
