There is no better sleep than in the deer stand! I usually wake up when the slobber starts running down my cheek

I have been sleepy but never dozed off. Every minute I spend while hunting I feel I am getting ready to see that big oh boy. I wouldn't dare let myself doze off. It has been hard though when a warm sun is hitting you at 3 in the afternoon and nothing seems to be moving. Still, I pay way too much to hunt and spend way not enough time doing it so there is no way I will waste even one minute my hunting time sleeping. Heck most days I don't even come in for lunch.

He'll learn one day, this will be only his second season to really hunt with us. Rest of us are going on season 20 together.

Only one I don't give crap about passing out is DoubleDrop14... because when he passes out he tends to wake up just as a monster is in shooting range... hence his screen name.

That's a good way to get hit w a Rock rofl

On the way home from the lease this evening....

Granted, it was doubledrop14's (on the right) bachelor party last night. Cruster passed out on the left, lol. We were all hurtin today. Must be nice to sleep and not have to drive through that darn thunderstorm that came through. Flooded everything out.

My son and I built a 4x6 blind with a tin roof and it is hard to stay awake when the rain comes. There's been times when we pull our chairs close together and lean up against one another and take a nap. If we miss something I figure it was meant to be...LOL

Regularly. I like to get settled in about an hour befor first light, get comfy, then take an hour nap.

I spend the entire year looking forward to deer season and save all of my time off to hunt, but I confess the best sleep I have ever gotten has been in a deer stand.

I have been accused of snoring so loud that I scared all the deer off, but that kid is a liar!

I built a 4x6 with a tin roof for my son and I...put 2 high-back office chairs in it...light sprinkle and we're out. Also, anytime he's not with me, I put my feet up in his chair and recline back....love to get in the blind around 5:00 am and get another hour of shut eye....awesome!

All the time part of hunting as far as I'm concerned. All part of my therapy while hunting!

Used to hunt the public land thing in east Tx. Fell asleep in a hanging stand about 15' up the day after New Years the first year I hunted it. Woke up 45 minutes later and there was a doe and young buck about 30 yards away. Shot him and was refreshed for the drive back to Fort Worth.

I work hard, drink a little and hunt when I can.

most mornings I get in a little extra sleep! I've got one of the boys with me that's wide eyed and watching for me.

I have nodded in the stand but never fell asleep. The cold really drains me when I am just sitting there.

Ive fallen asleep a lot. When I was a kid my dad would leave me out in the blind from sun up to sun down. One time I can remember him coming back and it had snowed (Michigan) all day, about 6 or 7 inches and you couldnt even see me as I was covered in snow. At least I blended in.

I've fallen a sleep a few times in my blind.

We use to hunt in Bandera and we had a blind that was 100 yards from camp on top of a hill that over looked a valley. We ran electricity to the blind and on cold mornings we would go to the blind plug in the heater, hand corn and by the time we got back to the blind is was nice and cozy. We would fall asleep in those 45-60 minutes before shooting light.

all the time, so long as its safe. i used to hunt in New York a lot in the past and did so once out of a treestand about 15' up that had a 4x5 platform with 3' high walls, you bet i layed down and fell asleep. woke up to deer too!

sleep hunting is the best, a few minutes feels like hours.

Couple of seasons back I guided for a guy from California on a deer hunt, after sunrise he kept dozing off and snoring so I'd move around a little and wake him up, he started complaining that he should have allready taken a deer by now and that I probably didnt have deer as advertised, I tried to be nice and I woke him up when some does started moving in and thought he was good and awake. He dozed back off snoring louder than before, deer ran off. After that I just let him sleep and about 8:30, the deer I had scouted for and was trying to put him on showed up. I could have woken him up but I just let him sleep.

Cold November morning. Hour-and-a-half before dawn. Box blind warming up nicely thanks to the little propane heater. Kick off the boots and warm the toes by the heater. Zonked!

Yep, I fall asleep! Best sleep I get each year is in my deer blind. I've found the older I've gotten the less I sleep. The first buck I ever killed I did so right after I woke up from a goos nap. He was startled and so was I but I still had the time to get my crosshairs on him and quickly dispatch him. Greatest tree stand I've ever sat in. Big ole oak with three giant branches. One to sit on, one to lean back against and one to put my feet on. I fell fast asleep on it with my rifle sitting in my lap. It's not the only deer I've taken when I've awoke out of a sound sleep...guess my snoring resembles a grunt call.

I go to bed earlier on Friday and Saturday night, so I can wake up earlier and be refreshed to hunt. If I am going to be late for anything, it is going to be work, not hunting!

I'm just the opposite. Usually on the weekends we party too much. When the family leaves on sunday. That's when the Erathkid comes to life, and starts hunting. Hard.

For the last 2 years I have had the grandkids with me most mornings. Trust me there is no sleep one especially two of them.
