Alright so I put up a feeder pen around my corn and protein feeder to keep cows and hogs out of the protein, but I would like the hogs to still come by so, this is where it gets crazy, I was thinking of buying one of those feeders that dosnt spin corn out but drops corn or whatever you put into it straight down, this is an example of the feeder I’m talking about

Now I would hang this away from the feeder pen and right below where I hang it I will dig a hole 3 feet or so deep with a post hole digger so it isn’t very wide and have it to where the corn drops into this hole once a day.

I am thinking of doing this instead of getting another spin feeder because I have just started protein feeding and I am mixing the protein with corn and having the spin feeder in the same pen all in hopes the deer take to the protein well and my thinking is if the deer have another feeder spinning corn why go to the one that they have to jump into, also with the corn dropping straight into the ground the deer may not want to work for this corn while hogs would love to keep digging this hole and hopefully turn the area into a hog wallow
What do yall think...to crazy or just a bad idea?

Put out some pig pipes. They will play with those suckers all night.

i thought about a pig pipe my only worry is they will empty it out before i get a chance to hunt it,

how long does it take them to get everything they want out of the pipe pipes?

They won't leave right away if you put some rocks in there that are too big to fit out of the holes. They will play with the pipes thinking more corn will come out.

i built up both of my feeders to do what you are wanting. i added sheetmetal so the corn falls below the feeder into the lights. i added a hog tube to the leg of the feeder and started using it a couple days before a hunt to keep them around longer.

the sad news is my hunting buddy past and i just can't get back into it. i have the two feeders and other stuff for sale in the classifeds.

Celebrate your friends passing with lots of pig death. Paint his nickname on the feeder and on your rifle to honor his life.

You know your friend, If my hunting buddies stopped hunting and doing what we enjoyed because of my death, they better hope ghosts don't exist! I will come back and scare the $hit out of them till they get their mind right. I think you honor them by keep doing what they enjoyed doing with you. We all know where it ends, life is about how you get from start to finish Your friend will always be with you.

there was only him on the lease i was on. the rest always gave funny looks and never bothered to say "Hey". maybe because i was a hog only hunter on a DEER lease. the prices on the lease went through the roof and the tree company that owns the lease started doing a lot of cutting not to mention the pipeline company digging through. i am not saying i will never hunt again but just need a break and a different setting. trying to get fishing going again for my son and i. we have a week long trip planned on the bay next week and looking for a small/medium size boat to hit the river for some gars and catfish. i work weekends and my son has school during the week so finding time with him is tough.
