Typically I just use corn, but it seems the hogs are starting to get a little wise to coming to my feeders. Thinking about trying some new bait. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Olen

Are you shooting them with a rifle off the feeder?

Yes, but not very often. Like once every couple of months at the most.

Thanks,
Olen

It's not the bait. They know what happens at your feeder. They'll come back, but you can't expect them to come to that one feeder once a week (or more) and get shot at.

i have a mix of corn and sweet feed (2:1) i toss out under my feeder and use in my hog tube under the feeder. dfwroadkill
is correct about the pressure on them. i also found that if i take out the lead hog then the others might be lost for a couple weeks and have to find the feeder again.

I agree it's not the bait. You also so not seem to be overhunting that feeder at one kill every few months. I would say you got something else going on in that area.
As far as bait, whole corn as always worked fine for me. I will put some jello or cool-aid mix on it occasionally to get that smell out there. Usually when the feeder is new. I actually like to eat the hogs I shoot so I do not use diesel.

If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.

I've been fermenting cracked-corn in a bucked with bread yeast, sugar, jello, skunked beer, spoiled fruit etc. Mix it up Sunday night, and it will be ready the next weekend. From my experience, if hogs are in the area they'll find and eat it within a couple of hours - always before the feeder corn too.

my favorite is cherry KoolAid and corn in a pig pipe. About a day or two after I fill the pipe I come back to hunt--they usually just about clean it out and I just put a little more corn in it for the evening hunt. After I shoot a few I let that one rest for a few weeks and then try again.

Put a trail of corn leading 50-100 yards away from the feeder. Shoot them when they are not at the feeder.

I tried a unique mixture the last time out, Anise extract and corn, that stuff smells strong, they seemed to like it...
