I am sorry you lost your lease, but what do you think "lease" means? It means it isn't yours. Sounds like you treated the property as your own when it never was. It sucks, but the result is the difference between being the tenant and being the owner. It is the owner that has the rights to determine the disposition of the property. Every time your lease was to be renewed, you stood the chance of losing it.
Thats a pretty A-hole way to say that to someone, whats the point of being like that to someone? Obviously he knows its a lease what all that entails and is in an emotional state after losing his lease of ten years. He doesnt need a jerk off like you kicking him while he is down, so why dont you keep your negative comments to yourself.

When we got off our last lease we stripped the boards off the wall that were ours.

Non permanent structures can be removed and must be given time to do so...Seen it in court many times...As long as you were in good standing payment wise...cabin, its up to the owner....blinds, feeders not so much ask to get them...or he can buy them for fsir market.......

I know you're pissed off, but I'd also be careful about over-stripping of the cabin. Leasehold improvements typically attach to the property permanently.
Not saying he would and not saying he wouldn't, but it sure would be a kick in the teeth to get sued and lose after getting kicked off a lease. Thanks Cameron, good advice.

I understand. I was speaking to the cabin and anything attached to the cabin, which unless it's on wheels is almost certainly going to be considered permanent. The blinds, feeders, etc are obviously moveable. Crappy situation, anyhow.

Man that is a terrible situation. I was in kinda the same boat, I lost a lease we had for about 8 yrs. so not quite as bad. What really sucks is having to go pick up all your stuff you accumulated over the years and try to do something with it.
Good luck.

Thanks Jackson, much appreciated. I know I am definetely not the only one to go through this. Funny thing is it is so rare for me. This is only the second lease I have been on in over 25 years. Have been blessed that way for sure. My better half (and that she is) keeps telling me two things - one, you had the opportunity to teach your boys the wonder of nature year round, and two, everything will work out in His plan. She is right.

Update - 3 1/2 months later. Have found a lease spot for me and my long time hunting partner. We tried our darndest to find something for the other five guys on our old place but just really hard to find something to handle everybody. Looks to be a great ranch, with about 3000 acres spread out over 2 counties. Camp has a walk in cooler for deer and a central cabin that has satellite TV! A little under 5 sections, and the way it is laid out is really nice. Our spot for 2 guys is around 700 acres (Eastland and Stephen County) backed by big hills on 2 sides which will provide natural funnels. Family friendly place, and seem to be a good group of guys. First time in decades I haven't managed a place, so please wish me luck!

Every hunting lease should include an exit plan that's kept up date so that you don't dig in too deeply. You'll never find me removing the wheels from my trailer, that's for sure.

Good news! Glad you found a new hunting place That's a great area, know it well, we go right through Eastland to Stephens. Always see deer crossing 1852, even during the middle of the day. Good luck this season at your new lease
