I was wondering who has used a M1-carbine on wild hogs. Let me know if it was effective.

M-1 Carbine. The assault weapon of choice in WWII and Korea. They worked great on Japs and North Koreans. I doubt is hogs will be much different.

I used a a M1 Carbine for years. Remington 110 Gr. SoftPoints worked real good on them out to 50 yards.

Works just fine. Proper shot placement is key.

Used to deer hunt with one, it has plenty of power to kill hogs, but you really need to keep range and shot placement in mind. It is more like shooting a pistol than a rifle.

They work and are light weight and handy. Like the others said keep the range short, put the bullet where it belongs and enjoy some pork

I have shot a few with an M1 Carbine and it worked fine. 30 Carbine has about the same horsepower as a 38 Special (little faster, lighter bullet, smaller frontal area). Proper shot placement at reasonable range and you are good to go.

I used a a M1 Carbine for years. Remington 110 Gr. SoftPoints worked real good on them out to 50 yards. i use my dad's old universal M1 as a corral trap gun for larger hogs. stick with the softpoints as suggested or give the triple shocks a try. example: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/553131/...-free-box-of-20 they cost more but do work.
