whoever does the scoring at los cazadores.

its the leader in teh high fence 8 point division

los cazadores goes by gross score, not net, for those of you who don't know

So the "officiall" new world record 8 point score is based off of a Los Cazadores score? roflmao We all know how accurate those scores are rolleyes

LMAO!

no i was referring to the fact that it wasn't a breeder deer or one that was released into a small enclosure.

los cazadores is not an official score nor the authority on whats a record or not.

Having read both threads, without a dog in the fight, this is my opinion.

We have a lot of experienced hunters here. We have hunters who have hunted all classes of deer. One cannot come on here and make an outlandish claim and then not expect to get called to back it up. When you are called to back it up you can't get defensive or offended. If I claim to be the strongest man in the world someone is going to challenge me on it. At that point it's put up or shut up.

By the same token, it's BS that every time someone posts a big buck on here all of the anti-HF jackwagons have to spout off their two cents worth. As I said in another thread, SHUT UP already. Tired of hearing the constant whining. If I want to hear that I'd sit at home with the wife or a room full of old women.

Just congratulate the hunter for taking a deer that they're proud of and wanted to share with us. Kind of like everybody else does when somebody posts a pic of a 2 year old 95-inch 8 point and claims it to be 5.5 and 140.

Mutual respect and maturity is what I'm referring to here.

It has been officially scored but the drying period is not over. I am not 100% of the person they took it to to have it scored but I think his name was John stein. That might not be how you spell it.

Welcome offically to THF. Native equals very very very impressive...hell of a deer regardless of what final score ends up....

That deer is 90% of THF'ers dream deer.

There are a lot of great people on THF, hope you become one of them.

Savoy, just for the record there is alot of BS that goes on in this joint and Hi vrs Low fence is a highly debated hot topic in here. If you had been around longer and knew things would probably have turned out alot different. Stick around lots a fun on here.

and once again congrats to you and yours on a great buck.

If John scored it then it will be accurate. He will also know the biggest 8 pointer no matter where they are shot since he used to be a collector. He used to be a walking encyclopedia on big deer. He also had the largest NT in the books with the fewest points- mainframe 8 point with double matching drops.

Didn't mean to offend savoy cheers

Started as just stating that their are many bucks that never see a contest or the books and had no intention of degrading your moms buck or offending you. Also claryfing for others that it isn't the world record.

I am not offended easy and I like my puny deer grin

Post it back up so we can all enjoy it the way it should have been the first time up

And STX...you arent my friend anymore

Spent a few minutes in his trophy room collection while he was scoring a buck. The most impressive was the mainframe 8 with drops. Mass is all I can say. He was a 180 class net 8 with about 18" of droptines. I think he was around 199 net NT. The Gillespie County NT he had was pretty nice also. You could not say something about a deer that he did not know about or have scored. I told him about a set of sheds off a North Texas LF buck that was over 260 in the mid 90's...he said I know I scored him but they are sheds.

John scored my Mexico buck when I was younger and Los cazadores said it would not make the book so yea I know their scores can be off. John scored it higher than what they did and it made it net just a tad over 196 non typical. I will post the pics up again in a couple of minutes

Hell yeah savoy, glad you're back!! I'd like apologize for the way you were welcomed, even though I never really went on the attack on the other thread. It's one hell of a deer and bobo's right, my dream buck.

Don't worry about txshntr, if you're taller than 5 ft, most he could do is kick the crap out of your shin!!!!!

Unbelievably beautiful deer.

Lot of BS in this forum, but most just in fun.
Want to get them really started, bring up barry o or antler restrictions.
Nugent aint got jack on lots of these boys.

We have food plots and protein feeders but this is the only deer that we have ever shot on the ranch and it was just because it was a giant 8. This is the only deer me or my family has ever killed on a high fence property. The only reason for the high fence is because the small neighboring ranches hunt a lot. There is a couple of large bucks on the property and we watch them when we see them. All the deer are native wild south Texas deer. All of us hunt but on low fences ranches in Texas.

If you have never hunted it in 13 yrs, there must be deer all over the place.. I bet that's a fun show to watch..

Savoy, I have 2 questions if you dont mind answering. How do you keep the does from overpopulating and how many pounds does that antler & cap weigh? That deer looks like he was an old rascal.

I did not weigh the skull cap so I don't know the answer to that question and yes there is a good amount of deer on the property. We have lost some due to floods and branches getting stuck in the flood gates. Some have been killed from coyotes and natural death. There is not too many deer on the property, you can't just stand around and see deer without driving around looking for them. That buck was 5 1/2 years old and was a 200 inch ten point buck the year before at 4 1/2. He lost his tenth points and a little tine height, from 17in to 15in tines but gained mass and a little on the main beams. It was the biggest slick 8 we had ever seen so it was shot. It is truly a unique buck and the pics look big but when you have the horns in your hands it does not do justice.

To keep the does from over populating you just have to shoot them. Having too many does is hard on the bucks antler growth. You can have as many deer as you want on a high fenced ranch as long as you can keep supplying food. Food plots, summer and winter, protein, my dad is always feeding them lots of peanuts and apples too.

Savoy a good way of starting a thread, is to simply state the measurements, "High 180's Class Eight" would have gotten what you wanted without the grief. The forum members would have gotten around to record status and eligibility pretty quick.
