I keep reading about these pig pipes and was wondering if yall could tell me more on how to make them and what to fill them with?

also my area has tons of hogs they seem to move out whenever deer season starts ( they stop coming to the feeders till around January)its real weird but I figured if I make them an area separate for them I might be able to keep them around, so is a pip pipe good for this reason?

They sure work good, just it's hard to keep the pipes full if alot of hungry hogs find them.

i have noticed the same thing the last couple of years. not sure if it is the hunter pressure (more people in the woods) or more feeders running in the area and the hogs making a bigger/wider circle.

i use a mix of 2 bags of corn and 1 bag of cheap sweet feed. the sweet gives them a little something different besides just corn and the corn takes a lot of sticky out of the sweet feed so it doesn't clog up the tube (unless the tube gets wet). i also sour some the mix in a 5 gallon bucket with water and strawberry soda just to put under the feeder and in the traps.

i can't promise the hogs will stay but they always come back and root around where the mix was put out, even after it is gone or if i hadn't had a chance to refill the tube.

I often mix in some sweet feed as well. I find the pelletized sweet feed at Tractor Supply is ideal. It is nice and dry and does not cake even when it is 105. I never can remember if it is the purple or brown bag, so I just pinch a corner of the bag to feel the difference. The three other feed stores that I frequent only carry crumbled sweet feed and it can be a mess, but it does have the advantage of keeping to tube smelling good even when it has run dry. That plus a handful of gravel keeps the animals working the tube between refills.

Another idea I read about but have yet to try to make the corn last a bit longer is to fill a couple of coke or water bottles with corn and insert them in the tube. After the bulk of the corn is gone the corn in the bottles dribbles out, but only if the tube is aggressively worked. I am going out tonight and will try this one out.

Inheatscents has some stuff called GRIM REAPER it smells like Anice oil and hogs can't avoid it! A little goes a long ways and the hogs love it! I would tie a rag to the top of my hog traps and pour a little grim reaper on it and would catch hogs with no bait at all. Pour over corn in a feeder whatever the smell drives em nuts and deer like it too.

I need a better swivel. They broke mine and I found the pipe a hundred yards away.

The swivel I put on mine is rated for 70 pounds. Is this the same ones you guys are buying?

I bought one from Tractor Supply. Not the galvanized one, the stainless one. They broke it.

I just need people to not steal my pig pipes. Went out friday night to find both of mine gone. Also found 4 Wheeler tracks at both locations. Unfortunately the camera missed them.

That sucks!!! We had a hog trap stolen off of our old lease. One of the guys who checked the pumps stole it. Besides the owner and us, he was the only other person who had access to the place. But you can't prove anything unless you get them on camera.

I went from pipes to barrels. Pipes empty too fast..

I tried several things in my pipe but corn seems to work best.

There was a suggestion to put a bell on the pipe so you'd know when the pigs were feeding. I put one on & my game cam tells me they don't mind the noise.

Now that it is cooler, I'll be in my blind waiting for the bell.

Get another bell to keep in the blind with you. Shake it a few times and the hogs will think something is at the feeder and maybe they'll show up quicker.

Ringing the dinner bell...I'm gonna have to remember that one.

I put my first pipe out two weekends ago. Went out last weekend and the haven't found it yet. I had a three foot scrap piece of PVC so I made another one that we placed about 200yds from one of our guys stands. I put a bell on this one so it would alarm him. Anyway, they found that one the first night.

Big Orn, I like your version...maybe use cable to go through pipe/cap to keep it from tearing and grinding up. The eyebolts don't last long with big boars, they just rip them out or bend them straight.

Update, I checked the pipe with the 5 water & coke bottles of corn in it and after a couple of weeks it still dribbles corn if I shake it hard. The bottles were still about a quarter full of corn, some more/some less. I probably could have got another couple of bottles in there, and these were 1/2 liter bottles, 1 liter bottles would probably work even better. The ground around the tube is much more thrashed than it has been, but that could be from the rain as much as anything.
