My uncle just bought a Remington 11-87 Super Mag. Used but in very good condition. We were needing a little help concerning the barrel seal activator. He is going to be using this gun for geese and sandhill crane only(3" & 3 1/2" shells only). My question is does he need the barrel seal activator in place or does that only need to be in installed in order to cycle the 2 3/4" shells? Any advice would be very much appreciated.
Thank you

On page 7 of the manual it says:
"Model 11-87™ super magnum™ owners please note: a barrel seal activator is used on the model 11-87 super magnum for 2 3/4 loads. Make sure the barrel seal activator is in the correct position (see picture 31, p.17) for use with 2 3/4" loads. Removal of the barrel seal activator is recommended only when using 3" or 3 1/2" loads."
You have it right; he only needs the activator if he wants to shoot 2 3/4 loads.
