y'all strap a five gallon bucket to your belt? How's that work out for you, please take pictures of your five gallon bucket bird bags for us to see

Funneeee. I carry two buckets filled with: Mojo, decoys, ammo, water, and snacks. I sit one one bucket and fill the other w/ birds, and keep a trash bag that holds spent casings, empty boxes, and empty water bottles. When done, the breast get put in another bag to keep them separate from the trash. Everything gets carried out and back in the buckets, except for the shotgun.

I'm getting old and fat and it is convenient to have a bucket to sit on whenever I like. Vests get hot, stuff falls out of bags, and more importantly, I can't sit on them. Thus, buckets are the way I roll grin

I've got the Browning. It's a great bird bag. I like it. It is heavyweight though.
I also have what Cabela's calls a "half vest" I think. It's just a light weight nylon bird bag in camo. I like it when it's real hot.
I also have a Filson strap vest. It's light and comfortable, oiled tin cloth. I like it for Upland, when I'm walking a lot.

I switch 'em around depending on what I'm doing and what the weather dictates.

Don't let the man catch you hunting off the back of that.

Yes sir. As crazy as it sounds I've been told Mr. Game Warden can issue a citation for shooting a dove while sitting on a tail gate. However, agree with it being the perfect shell bag etc. etc..

I've never known one that passed up any opportunity.

i bring the city to the field but y'all are heaving around two buckets full of drinks, snacks, decoys, shells, mojos three steps from your truck and all i want is a belt bird bag to throw my shells and birds in while i stand in a field corner somewhere away from my truck?

everyone who suggested a bucket or truck, i understand your thinking, but i'm more mobile, i like to park and walk away from a 3 ton vehicle and if i can take everything i need on a belt in a few bird bags, so be it. that's why i asked this question. thank y'all for your suggestions on bird bags, really got me thinking on my next one to replace the one i have.

although, maybe i'll try leaning up against my truck bed this season, it seems i'm missing out a bit...

Well then try shooting them out the driver side window. That way you are in the AC and you have a built in drink holder.

I keep my drink in the same bag as my birds, but the darn thing always sweats and gets feathers all over it... LOL

check out their "bird bag trio"...its pricey, but will last forever. has a zip off game pouch so you dont spill your shells all over the cleaning table.

Is it duck season yet?

+1

Get it in Tin Cloth. I bought mine about 15 years ago, used it every season since and there isn't a scratch on it. Back then it was like $75. Money well spent.

The fabric is so stiff the pockets almost hold themselves open.

Also, a "12 oz" bottle or can fits perfectly in the side pockets and won't spill. Or so I'm told.

+1. Had mine for years. The more blood and dirt you get on it, the better it looks.
