i've been using this cheap 9.99$ bass pro red head bird bag for the last couple seasons and i'm tired of it. i liked it because it was real flimsy and i could wad it up, throw it in my bucket with some shells and be gone. now it's really getting on my nerves because it is so flimsy... i found a Browning bird bag that looks good, it has a leather belt and looks to be pretty good. anyone use it or have other suggestions???

I have the exact belt and I actually like it. Of course I only dove hunt about 4 times a year

I like dove belts too. Mine is a modular hunting belt from Gary Nessee in brush country camo. I have mine configured with divided shell pouch on the right, water bottle holder and small pouch on the left and game bag in the back. Works great!

Have used belt bags for years, including the Browning, Filson and Remington brand. They are not as hot as a full vest, but they all have two major faults. If you carry more than a box and a half of shells, the weight will eventually cause the belt to slip off your hip, or you will become so sweaty that it can stretch. also a limit of white wings can be tough to hold in the bird pouch.
I switched to a strap vest with no panels (mesh or cloth) on the front or back a large game bag that can be washed out and additional pockets for colapsible water bowl, water bottle, and a lead. There are several different companies that make them, I settled on one made by Pella.

I really wanted the Filson one a few years ago but everyone was out. I got an Orvis one for a little bit more but had a gift card. Love it compared to those vests.

I'm all about having nice things and good equipment and I probably spend more than I can really afford more than most. But I don't think I could see spending $200 or $300 on a bird bag

Get it in Tin Cloth. I bought mine about 15 years ago, used it every season since and there isn't a scratch on it. Back then it was like $75. Money well spent.

The fabric is so stiff the pockets almost hold themselves open.

Also, a "12 oz" bottle or can fits perfectly in the side pockets and won't spill. Or so I'm told.

Browning bag with wal mart suspenders. These and a collapsible chair from academy will carry anything you need for hours.

Academy has one - big bird pouch in the back two shell pockets (one box each)bird pocket lined inside with repellent lining - no blood and guts residue - adjustable wide mesh belt - if you are not a belt snob it has worked just fine for years

This is what I use. One on the left and one on the right. The one on the left holds my birds and a drink. The right one holds my emptys and fulls.

Just get a regular belt, two shooting pouches, and a Otis Leather dove strap.

I saw that one but that nylon belt is the problem I'm having with my current set up, it just gets too twisted up and becomes a pain in the [censored]

Funneeee. I carry two buckets filled with: Mojo, decoys, ammo, water, and snacks. I sit one one bucket and fill the other w/ birds, and keep a trash bag that holds spent casings, empty boxes, and empty water bottles. When done, the breast get put in another bag to keep them separate from the trash. Everything gets carried out and back in the buckets, except for the shotgun.

I'm getting old and fat and it is convenient to have a bucket to sit on whenever I like. Vests get hot, stuff falls out of bags, and more importantly, I can't sit on them. Thus, buckets are the way I roll

My FIL had mine made out of naugahyde and it looks like a purse. I usually just hang it from tree and add the birds when I luck out and hit them.

Turn it inside out and hose it down and it looks like brand new again.
