I am in the middle of building a steel blind very similar to the Atascosa/Executive type insulated blinds. Measurements are 5x5 with a 2x5 porch and 78" ceiling. Floor and 5' tower will be made with 2" square 14 gauge tube, the frame of the blind itself is 1" square 14 gauge tube. Windows will be sliders from Tyler at DeerView in Burleson.

Looking good. What do you plan to skin it with? I just finished one similar, and skinned with 24 ga. galvanized sheet. I found that I had to use additional supports to keep the sheet tight.

I built a 4x4 with 16 & 18ga.

I will say its easier to use metal screws, then try to spot weld it

I have one like this with the same dimensions (5X5)on 14' legs. You should consider a 10 or 12 inch shelf around 3 sides so you can shoot off sand bags. The one thing that is missing from mine that I would do next time is put adjustable shutters on all of the windows. This aids in transport, (some) control of sun and rain and will allow you to black out the rear window to prevent
being silhouetted. I placed mine on top of a 4" hackberry tree that I topped and tied down with cables. Mine is the only one (of 8) that has not blown over in 20 years.

The door was a pain to get to sit right, and I had to fill a 1/4" gap between the floor and the back wall but it's coming along nicely now.

This one is actually already sold and I have 8 more to build before October, you might flinch at the price though!

Looking good! What's your weight estimate with running 16ga for skin? Ought to be stout!

The skin of it alone weighs in at around 550 lbs. I estimate it to weigh right around 1200 or so when it's all said and done.
