while hog hunting i hear the coyotes running just after dark. my son and i watch shows on TV show calling during the day. is there a prime time for calling? is the weather (hot and cold) a factor? full moon or no moon? evening or morning?

the freezers are full and the coyotes are running heavy at the lease which i think is affecting the deer and hogs. i am working on a homemade caller and bought a couple of hand calls to give a try. we have been watching the how to videos on the computer and getting better but is there a college night course for using the hand callers?

The most important thing about calling yotes is no matter how much you practice in the house and in the truck on the way to work. None of it really matters until you get out in the woods and try it. Go on a night with minimal light and about a 5 mile an hour wind. Saturday December 17 at 530 pm will be the best time for upcoming weekends. Buy a spot light with a red lens. Start calling soft anything high pitch. Then get louder as you go. If nothing has come in 15 mons then change up your calling style. It will work just stay with it.

When using a hand call I like to only use it for as long as I can use one breath. Then I wait about 5-10 minutes then give it a go again. I like to stay on stand about 30-45 minutes. The best advice I can give is to practice in the field.
