I say put him on the ground then check it out. Keep us posted.
A virtue in wildlife ethics is that the hunter has no gallery to applaud or disapprove of his conduct. Whatever his actions, they are dictated by his conscience, rather than by onlookers. It is difficult to exaggerate the importance of this fact."

Unfortunately It's not from my lease. A freind of mine works with a guy who leases this place. The deer is somewhere in Archer County. I was wondering if it could have been from a snake bite. I've never seen anything like it before.

It's interesting that he is still in velvet while the other buck is in hard antler. I wonder if that is related to the injury/illness/infection/whatever.

It looks to me like its road rash and the deer was fortunate not to be ran over completely.

That's a nice buck for Archer County!
That pic is from mid-September, and it looks like that buck is molting. Not sure that's mange on him. Definitely looks like a cut on his leg. Sure would like to see him walk. Look how funny he's standing. Left rear leg forward and left front leg backwards. I'm betting this buck was walking with a limp when that pic was taking. If they get him on cam again he may be back to looking almost normal. IF it's mange, and not convinced it is, he will most likely be showing up now with thinning hair and more bald spots. Be nice if he walked in front of the cam again. They shouldn't have any problem deciding once they see him through a scope. I'd guess he's either gotten considerably better, or considerably worse. Either way, somebody in Archer County will drop that sucker and eat him this year, if they get the chance.
Great flying coon shot! :-D

That pic on 10/02 looks like he's done molting. That place on his side doesn't really look better or worse to me. Looks healthy as a horse, except for that place on his hip. Still doesn't look like mange to me.
Buddy has a nice rack, and he's a young'un. I don't think that buck's over 2 1/2. He'd be danged interesting to see next year.
Where the heck is this in Archer County?

The place is just outside of Wichita Falls. I think it's around 2200 acres and only has 1 hunter. It's a freind of a freinds place. I was just trying to figure out if the deer had been bit by a snake or not.
