I was thinking of making my own predator decoy. I have an old dog toy that looks alot like the decoys in the store. I figured i would just place it on a stick and attach a string to it if the wind isn't blowing hard enough to move it. What do y'all think? Is there a scent that maybe I should put on it or is dog slobber enough?

Should work just fine. A feather on a string works well also. Just need something to grab/hold their attention.
If you stuff the dog toy with Indian corn, it will work even better :-)

I was thinking about trying my MO-Jo dove decoy. It should keep their attention, You think?

Most anything will work - before I bought my mojo critter decoy I used to use a brown plastic grocery bag stuck in the ground w/ a tent stake. It worked pretty well - not as well as the mojo, but pretty well.....

The mojo dove would be the same concept as the woodpecker. If you already have one utilize it and save your money!

Made one for a friend. I used a remote control car for the controls, mounted the motor on a plate with the battery and controller, and linked a coat hanger wire to the drive shaft. Then bent the wire up into a rabbit puppet I got somewhere long ago. Give it a little speed and the rabbit starts doing a caddy shack jig. He says it works. The only caveat is making sure the controller has the range needed. Test the controller beforehand. If it has less than 100 yard range, I recommend using a pringles can to make the antenna directional, point it at the car and see what range you get. Sorry no pics, it was just a thing I did once for a friend, and to see if I could do it.

Saw a huntin show on tv last month and the guy had a stuffed Jack-rabbit that his Dad used 35 yrs. before and he got it out of mothballs and used it again. Killed yotes all day with it. I t got hit hard by a couple ytes and a bobcat on that show.

Had a red tail hawk snatch my Quiver Critter (rabbit) decoy while yote hunting last year. Couldn't believe it. I looked up just in time to see the hawk coming down on it. I thought, "oh no you're not... yes you did". All I could do was laugh. But talk about one stopped up bird if he ever ate any of that. No Exlax could get those polyester out of its chute.
