I have a tendency to change my carry weapon a little too often. So, now I'm at the point where I'd like to change it again. In the past year, I went from an HK P2000SK to an XD40 3". Now, I'm torn between a Sig 229 or a 3" 1911.
Help.

You went from an H&K to a XD? That's a huge step down.

Depends on what 1911 you are wanting. Les Baer, Wilson or Colt, then I say 1911.

No way. Stock weapon would be the Sig. But here's a guy who ditched a H&K. Makes you wonder where he's really coming from.

The way you change, Sig.......
1911 needs to have intimate bonding with it's owner/shooter..

You went from an H&K to a XD? That's a huge step down. I wasn't comfortable with the LEM trigger. I've said it before on these forums, but I'm not a big guy . . . I have the hands of a 12 year old girl and, for whatever reason, the trigger plagued me. I had inherited my Dad's XD and I decided that I'd make the change . . . Not only because I wanted to carry my Dad's gun, but also due to the fact that I simply did not like the HK's trigger . . . detested it, really. Plus, selling it helped pay for my wedding.

1911's aren't effective modern combat weapons
A 226 doesn't take up that much more space if you want the best choice. I have G-10 Piranha grips on mine.
It sounds like you need to determine goals and find out why you keep changing
Have you looked at the beretta cheetah 380?

You could always go with the SIG 1911, then you'ld have both in one package. BTW, they also offer it in 3 sizes, in overall lengths of Full size 8.7" Carry & Compact C3. 7.7" Ultra Compact. 6.8"
Just an idea ~~~~~~~~~~

I would say Sig even though I have never owned one. I have had a bunch of name brand 1911's and a Springfield Loaded was the only one that didn't jam all the time.
With all the reliable polymer lightweight guns out there now I don't know why anyone would want to lug around an all steel gun anymore. And you did say you weren't a very big guy. Neither am I, and if I was actually going to carry a gun it would either be a different H&K than the P2000, such as a USP compact, or a Glock.

I usually don't carry for more than an hour or two at a time, and I prefer the feel of an all steel gun. I have an XD Subcompact that the wife and I share, but when clothing allows I tote my CZ Compact. If you've never handled a Sig 229, put your hands on one before you buy it. They have an.... uh... interesting grip for people with small hands. I want to find a Sig that's comfortable for me, but it feels like gripping a beer can. I have stubby fingers though, so ymmv.

sigs are great guns and if you are not willing to put the time in learning and becoming comfortable with it then go with the sig

I have, and frankly a gun that big should hold more rounds. My CZ is the same basic size (slightly bigger OAL) and holds 14 rds.
