Ok brethren, I am not to familiar with night vision as I have always just used red lights for varmint calling and hadn't ever done to much any hog hunting. Well last night I did some hog hunting at night for the first time and realized how much night vision would make the success rate and ease of hunting at night would be. I harvested a 100 pounder which good but could have shot more had the light been a %100. So my question is what are some of the best nightvision scopes out there for a $1000 and under? I know there are "next gen" scopes that can be seriously $$$$. So if you guys could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it brothers. THANX
p.s. Did Tver any pics of the porker as the camera was forgotten and we were to sweaty and tired to care bout pics. Lol

under a 1000 bucks puts you the first generation NV scopes. they work but not the best but might work for what you want to use them for. i have asked different people your question and most all say to save your money for a third generation setup. cry once and be done.

Pulsar Digisight has to be better than any Gen1 device. Make sure you get a dealer that has warranty though.
1400 dollars for that unit but I hear they do great.

Pulsar's are not Generational Scopes. I hate those stupid irrelevant titles that ATN Makes up!!!
Anyway, Pulsars are Digital Scope's. Meaning the image is being recomposed from 3D to 2D digital viewing like live T.V. shows.
You can't use Gen 1 or Gen2 and "most" NV scopes during the day. You can use the Pulsar during the day by reversing the polarity of your cross hairs. So in saying that comparing labeled Gen scopes with Pulsar isn't really fair comparison.

what is the biggest caliber rifle that you could mount the pulsar N550 on and have it survive the recoil?

I would keep itn under .308 caliber. the digisight is afterall a fancy computer, thinking of keeping it awhile then dont abuse it with hard recoil calibers.
