I am an NRA Life Member and have been for a long time. Let me be the first to say there is a lot the NRA does that I don't agree with. The reason I'm a member is there are LOTS of folks in Washington and the world that would like to not only see you disarmed but firm laws in place to take them from you and never be able to own them again. Washington is run and influenced by some terrible people in the eye of a gun owner. Obama and the Democrats want to TAKE every gun you have. The NRA Lobbyist is your only voice in Washington. Whether you like them or not is not the issue. If you want to keep and own your guns you should belong to the NRA. Yes I'm a member and proud of it!!

NRA Benefactor Life Member - Free men should not be subjected to permits, paperwork and taxation in order to carry a firearm.

Pretty much hit the nail on the head on my opininon of my views of them.

Another thing I don't like about them is they send out so much junk email. They also seem to "cry wolf" a lot too in order to get more money out of people.

But they are not a bad thing, and like it or not the more members the NRA has the more the government will think before imposing on our rights. There is strength in numbers, look at the NAACP and other organizations made up of regular citizens.

NRA Life Member since 2004. I agree, I dont like some of the things that they do but they are the only voice we have in Washington. Pretty powerful lobby.

Not a member here but use to be. I agree with just about everythng they do EXCEPT how they spend the money. It use to drive me nuts to give them $25 only to see them turn around and spend it on postage to beg for more money.

Think lifetime memberships are 750. I am a NRA member as well.

As others have said, don't agree with some things they do, but they do alot of good things. I like the magazines they give you as well.

Lifetime member of the NRA and TSRA here. I believe money well spent. I remember back in highschool one of my teachers telling me why we need the second ammendment. To protect all that is important in the first ammendment. That was 3o years ago. flag texas

That is an excellent saying. I am definitely going to remember that and use it.

I think all repectable and respondsible gun owners should vote and be NRA members. Personally I'm a big "I told you so" guy. IF something happens I like to reserve the right to say i told you so. I fyou don't do both and by some far fetched chance the federal governement comes knocking down our door for your guns, then that gives you absolutely noright to complain and say otherwise.

We all know in Wachington that money talks. Why not pool some of it together. Yes the mailings and constantly being hit up for more money is annoying. And yes I too don't agree with everything they do. But I sure am glad the NRA is there to stand between us and the hippies.

Junk mail (email and regular) annoys me, I'm too lazy to unsubscribe from the newsletter, their publications aren't the greatest either. More gun insurance is a plus if you can only get a little from homeowners or renters insurance.

But mainly I feel like I'm just throwing something in an account where I can never withdraw the $$, that in the time when we really need them, they will come through big time. Like say something crazy does happen and a knee jerk reaction of congress or prez was to infringe on the 2nd amendment, or both house and senate gets a dem super majority.

My main issue is the assault rifle ban, if something like that is ever reinstated I will question the actual effectiveness of the NRA.

Last time when the democrats tried to extend the ban before it expired, the amendment to extend was voted down 8-90 in the Senate, it's not going to come back.

If you own firearms or just believe in the right to do so, you MUST be a member if the NRA. Just throw the junk mail in the trash if it annoys you. Its not that hard to do. The NRA is the only 2nd ammendment group that congress listens to. You should also join the Second Ammendment Foundation since they are getting it done in the courts all over the country. They are responsible for the DC vs Heller and Mcdonald vs. Chicago supreme court cases. They ar doing great work.

mustafa-He was just an idiot paid to make calls at an outsourced fundraising company. Not the best thing to base a decision on.

If you believe in the 2nd Amendment, we should all belong and work from the inside to make the NRA better.

I'm a member, the magazine's July article put a new light on PROJECT GUNRUNNER.
"34,000 men, women and children murdered execution style in the past 4 years"

Makesicko is a prime example of only outlaws having guns.

I've been an NRA member on and off for 40 years. Seems like I let my membership lapse until the Dem/Socialist have congress or a Dem president, then I fork over the money.
