The chrono was off probably.....just relax and have fun. Go stick something and do not worry about speed. Practice and use good form as accuracy is the key not speed.

Everyone has an opinion and you will hear them all on this forum......sometimes more than you care too.

Shhhhhhhh better to be quiet than remove all doubt..

Wow what a discussion we have going on here! I shoot a Z7 magnum @ 70lbs and 30.5" draw, with bone collector 340's, that's the definition of fast, smooth, accuracy! But anyway, to stir up a whole new can of worms.... I saw I you tube video of a guy shooting a matthews monster across a chrono running in the 415 fps range! search for it and check that out!

Brooks, I wouldn't worry about it. Sounds like you're new to bowhunting, so welcome to the sport. It puts a whole new spin on taking game. All you need to know is your bow shoots arrows fast enough to kill an animal. Now practice, then practice some more. Then when you think you are ready, go practice some more. I would also find a good broadhead to start practicing with as well. They will fly differently than the field tips, especially if your form is not developed yet. Congrats on the bow and just post some pics come this fall with a monster buck with the bow setting across the rack.... as Ron White would say, "That'll shut 'em up."

People are just trying to tell you that if your bow really does shoot that fast you can sell fora whole lot of money and then you can buy two of those bows.

I wouldn't worry about it bro. Just have fun. Oh, and nobody hassled jigman because 343 fps is actually possible based on the Destroyer's IBO speeds.

Those are some very fast speeds for that bow. Congrats good luck with it, but I highly suggest that you double check what the bow is actually set up at and the arrows you're shooting.

I know the guys that work at the Burleson store, they are not what I would call a Tech! They are more like clerks.

Don't take offense, bud. It really is something that you need to check and verify. You aren't obligated to provide proof for anybody here, of course. But if your bow is shooting that much faster than Hoyt says it is supposed to shoot, then please check everything. If your arrows are too light, then they don't have enough spine (strength) for your bow's poundage. That is a very dangerous deal. If an arrow is too light, it may not withstand the force of the bow. This kind of thing can happen if an arrow breaks when you shoot it. Just make sure everything in your setup is as it should be.

I have never had an arrow blow up coming out of the bow yet. Really not wanting it to happen. I have teetered right on the fine line of still being safe and being unsafe and it wasnt a smart idea. I have had a couple of bows blow up in my hand and believe me it will ruin your day and your drawers. Not a fun experience.

My first full blowup was a Martin Jaguar if I remember correctly. Second one I popped the string in half. It was an 80 lb BowTech Guardian. The Martin I didnt know any better. The BowTech I knew dammm good and well I shouldnt have been doing what I was doing. I watched a guy on you tube last night dry fire a Hoyt Katera. I can imagine that my face looked somewhat like that

So your draw length is 28.5 - 29" (if you're 6' tall). Sound about right?

The IBO speed from the bow manufacturer are rated for 30" draw and 70# pull with the lightest arrow recommended for that draw weight and length. If your bow is shooting faster than that with a shorter draw, then either your arrows are way too light or the limbs on your bow are really 80# or something like that.

You just don't want to be shooting arrows that are underspined for your bow. If everything is right with your setup and your bow is just blazing fast somehow, then I wouldn't sweat it.

Just have them measure the bow's draw weight on a scale and then check to make sure you have the correct arrows.

I'm 6', and I have a 29" draw. I wear 34-35" sleeves on my dress shirts (pretty long arms). My dad is 5'6", and he has a 25.5" draw. You sure your knuckles don't drag the ground? laugh laugh

Everybody's build is different. Generally, the "guess" is height in inches divided by 2.5, but people aren't all made the same.

i bought a monster for speed... but i ended up backing down the poundage for more accuracy and the plus side is, lower weight on a Monster and you still get the same speed and energy if not more then alot of the other guys... A little youth bow set as low as i can go can kill an animal, its all about shot placement.
