On scoring deer, since they are measuring the antlers, why do they take spread since that is only air. I think they should take a mass measurement on each tine at the halfway point, and get rid of spread. If you've ever messed around with this, it is very close to same score as with spread. Seems more logical to me.

On average in a final score on typical bucks the tine length is 40% of the final score, the main beams are around 30%, mass is around 20% and the inside spread is 10%. I like mass and tine length since the spread is only a 10% factor in the final score of a deer but the first thing you see. Tine length and number of tines is the thing I look for first, but when you can add in 40" of mass on a deer it will hide tine length. I am into realestate and not air space.

Mass and that which is not mentioned because it is not part of making a rack score high and that is character.

People never talk about the real key to high scoring deer.
I wouldn't pick any of those 3. I would pick long beams. Long beams usually mean that the deer is wider (longer beams have to go somewhere). The only way deer with short beams get wide is if they start to go straight off the head. This is the shape that when they look at you you can see all the points.
It's also a lot easier to be a 10 or 12 point if you have enough room for a g-4 or g-5.

this one had a little bit of air, mass, and long beams.
Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level then beat you with experience.

I think it makes for an impressive mount. Don't mind some good real estate though.
