Looks like 2 of those feeder legs are already bent! Might want to get them staked this weekend.

The legs were bent on purpose. They were off of another feeder that was being used in an area where the ground was very soft; it kept the feeder from sinking down into the ground and making it uneven.

i think depending on where you hunt the opinions could vary. We hunt brackettville where 95% of it is bed rock. There isnt much rooting to do there though we see some time to time but no where near like ive seen south texas ranches or places with better soil. We have staked down all our feeders and now dont worry about pigs. They are welcome to come out any time we are there. I am happy to see them as often as possible. As for feeding them protein, it could get pricey and like mentioned put some cattle panel around them and you are good to go. If not they will clean that out overnight given the chance.

I seen a show on The Outdoor Channel few years back where they were hunting them in Florida on a ranch with dogs. When they caught them the guy would take them back to use them in his breeding program for them.
