FYI Tikka and SAKO are built in the same plant by the same employee's on the same equipment ...and use the same barrels. The Finnish Govn't that owned Tikka, and mfg'd all of the Finnish Army's small arms wanted out of the business and sold Tikka to Nokia in 1983/84 ...and Nokia - who also owned SAKO at the time merged the two companies.

When my wife and I were in Rihimaaki for a plant tour & moose hunt in Oct '84 was the 1st time I had seen the dual signage over the plant's distinctive & legendary guard shackhouse at the main entry gate. The guardshack was one of the few things that remained from the WWII German destruction of the plant, t and the 1948 Russian War with Finland. The Germans leveled every above ground stone structure north of Helsinki so that "no two stones rested upon one another" during WW II...and the Russians tried to steal what was left...'causing the SAKO ammo & firearms mfg operations to move inside the granite ridge at the side of the property a few 100 meters from the guard shack...where the ammo plant was still in operation in 1984 to avoid Russian airstrikes. Foriegners were not allowed in the ammo plant...but SAKO maintained a small mfg operation inside the mountain's near atom bomb proof facility, building highly restricted anti personnel weapons that were only sold to "some" governments black op's folks world wide for non public use by a single authorized employee. I understand a number of firearms mfg'ers have had similar programs for "specialized" products.

Tikka is SUPPOSED to be a cheaper price point product...as it always was even when Ithaca was importing Tikka rifles ...prior to the Nokia/Llama owned US subsidy, Stoeger Industries then located a 55 Ruta Ct South Hackensack NJ being closed and later moved into larger quarters in ?? Warren, New Jersey to accomodate Tikka's warehouse requirements as the old place in Hackensack was was already over crowded with what Stoeger was aready bring in after I sold 3 models of Llama into WalMart.

Now that Beretta has bought out the european SAKO/Tikka Company's assets and reorganized Stoeger's import franchise's to replace the missing $ volume from LLama, 'cause the Spanish guys won't sell nuthin to Beretta... who knows what the #$@! the Eyetalians are doing...kinda like with Benelli & Beretta...and Franchi O/U's.

I worked as a salaried factory rep for Stoeger for 6 years... and had 3 sets of management before I got OUT of the gun bidnizz.
Ron

X2 on the tikkas. Ive got three of them. A 308 varmint, 243 t3 and a 7mag m695(old school tikka). Ive shot all my buddies hunting rifles and one of the guys had a tikka. After feeling the ation and shooting my choice was made for me. I sold the remington I had and bought my tikka. Its grown from there. Tikka=best bang for your buck.

I got a long way to go and a short time to get there.
