Tikka T3, one of the smoothest actions you will find and accuracy Gurantee that most other manufactures will not dare to put in writing.

im pretty fond of my new tikka t3 lite, but I have recently become a fan of savage... I love my savage 116 stainless with accutrigger in 7 mag! I would like to find one in 25-06 cant really go wrong with any of the brand names... kinda like ford vs. chevy vs whatever...

My vote goes to a Browning a-bolt. I've had Remmys, Rugers and Winchesters. Those guns are alright and if your lucky you'll get one that'll shoot MOA . Agian ...IF YOUR LUCKY. I own 3 Browning rifles right now . 2 A-Bolts ( 26-06 and a .300 Win Mag) and an X-Bolt ( 22-.250). ALL of mine shoot sub MOA with factory loads and with my hand loads they'll shoot 1/2 MOA. I would be hard pressed to by another brand with as good of luck as I've had with Browning.

I have had Ruger #1, Ruger Model 77 and Remington 700 SPS all in .270. The best shooting one out of the box has been the Remington 700 SPS. It shot a 7 shot group at 80 yds you could cover with nickle. The Ruger #1 was a great rifle also and both Rugers shot great groups. I bought 700 SPS with the idea of building a rifle off of it. After shooting it for 4 yrs I added a H-S Precision stock and then last year added a Jewell Trigger. Still have the factory barrell. In all rifles I have shot factory Remington 130 grain Core-Lokts. Just about any rifle these days shoot well. Find the right ammo and it will shoot better. Get what you like and not what someone else likes. Go to the range and talk to guys shooting and look at their set up and ask questions. Most will even let you shoot it.

I was leaning to an A-bolt.....Can you tell me the difference in the a-bolt and x-bolt in your opinion which do you favor?

If you reload, you can do really well with 7mm-08 or a 260 Rem. They both share the 308 cartridge as a base and are very efficient performers, very accurate and comparitivly mild recoil. I shoot the 7mm-08 and am looking at the 260. What kind of hunting are you anticipating ?

The only difference is the looks that I can tell. Both are 60 degree bolt throws. The A-bolts have a "classic" look and the X-Bolts are more stream lined. The reason that I suggested A-Bolt over the X-Bolt is because for some reason they use a cheap looking plastic clip on the X-Bolts but thats the only thing that I dont like about them. My X-Bolt is in the duratouch finish composit stock. I wanted that because its my yote gun and sees alot of truck time. So, I wanted something that wouldnt scratch up. When I bought it that was the only Browning that the gun store had in stock with a composite stock. I love the gun but would have rather had an A-Bolt. I think the A-bolts are a little less expensive as well.

I just bought a Sako A7 in 270, but haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. In my research, I heard nothing but good things about Tikka T3 and Sako. If you are thinking of a Tikka in 270 or 30-06, you can get a Sako for the same price as they are clearancing the current A7's to make room for the A7 Tecomate. My Sako was $599. When compared to anything else in that price range, it seemed like a no brainer to me.

DSP56 I am thinking very much about the A-bolt ty for the info on the two.

Been looking at the T/C's myself lately. .25-06 would be a good one. I'm kinda looking for one in 7mm-08.

my personal exp.. browning doesn't holdresale value, high end remingtons do, sako, kimber, winchester,, if you are not worried about resale then good shooters are savage, tikka, a new stock and even a stevens is pretty impressive.. depends on money you want to spend and what you wanna do with it.. my fav is a browning a bolt black gold medallion it is a keeper so i am not worried about resale,, awesome rifle and almost too pretty, or if you like even gaudier the white gold medallion makes a good shooting safe queen. remington cdl, browning abolt, winchester by FN all with the wood stock are good lookin guns which will usually shoot as good as they look especially if you reload.. good luck..
In God I trust.. all others are suspect. ;))

I have an older (20+ years) Remington 700 BDL in 270 that is a great rifle. I recently wanted to get a 30-06 and a 243. I bought a Remington SPS in 243 and could never get the same kind of comfort and performance from it. I sold it and bought a Sako A7. Very well built and tight spec'd gun from the little bit I have tried it so far. I ended up with a Tikka T3 in 30-06.
I wanted both of these to be light as I plan to carry them. In the 243 that is no issue, in the '06 you pay a little price in the recoil for that. Accuracy is good on both. for those that go on and on about the "Tikka guarantee" it doesn't come close to the Sako's. The Tikka is guaranteed to shoot a 3 shot MOA group at 100 yards. The A7, and all Sako's, are guaranteed to shoot a 5 shot group - big difference. Both of them are plenty accurate for hunting anything I need to shoot at. The plastic mag on the Sako has metal lips and it has to be pushed in to activate the release, a plus for me although some do not like it.
There's so much I don't know that I don't even know what I don't know.

I have a rifle or 2, lately my favorite is a Tikka T3 lite stainless in 6.5 x 55, light, accurate, smooth action...find it hard to beat and I got a variety of nice fiearms.
