To begin this story, I purchased my ol lady a Browning A-bolt in .270 for x-mas. It is the 1st gun she has ever owned in her life. A few months ago I bought her a Nikon Buckmasters 4.5-14x40 with BDC to put on it. She has fired my rem 700 22-250VS on my lead sled 3xs at the gun range before. Thats the extent of her firearms training, other than watching me shoot and learning how to clean and maintain the guns at home. Well, we finally went to sight her .270 in yesterday at Parker County Sportsman club in Poolville. We had her rifle sighted in to my specs after about 15 rounds. For whatever reason the club decided no shooting at less than 50yds, and sighting in at 100yds was a PITA but was done. I let her shoot about 20 more rounds on the sled with 25lbs of weight on it. She then fired 4 rounds on the sand bags and was in for a surprise to say the least. We decided to go check the game cam at the lease in Graford. We arrived about 240pm yesterday and the cam revealed numerous hogs, turkeys and some dove. i was excited to see a 400lb+ boar on my cam coming in around 5pm the previous day. On our way out of the lease I managed to get the 2wd diesel stuck on a lease road. Called a friend from work to come pull me out, this was at 330pm. I told her, "Babe, why dont you grab your gun and go sit in the blind for a bit", she said OK. My bud arrived about 45 min later and pulled me out. We sat for a bit looking at the cam pics on the laptop and asked where Brandi was. I told him she was in my blind and that I really didnt expect her to see anything. All of a sudden at 510pm I received a text from her that said, "Dont come he's here!" The look on Doug and my face was priceless. I said there is no way she's going to kill anything, she just sighted it in for the fist time ever today! At 542 we heard a shot and less than a minute later I got a call saying, "Are you coming, he's down!" She could barely talk she was shaking so bad. On the way back to my blind she called again, I was thinking oh he got up and ran off. Nope she asked again if i was coming because he was still down. We got to the pen and sure enough he was down, he wasnt the 400lber i was after but after getting him gutted we headed to Hamilton's in Weatherford to drop him off. Their scales had him at 152.5lb dressed and she hit in about 2" below the eye. Im so proud of my honey, she shot her own first rifle, sat in a blind all by herself, and made a kill on her first ever hunting trip EVER!

Yeah, shes a dang good shot.

Hog Slayer!

At Hamilton's.

Brandi with her first kill.

Again

Congrats on the first kill! I'm sure they'll be plenty more where that came from:)

There's a reason why humans are on top of the food chain....Course, the animals don't always realize that.

Lad, it looks like you created a monster. You hog hunting duties will consist of field dressing and loading her kills.

Way to go! Man, that's got me pumped and I wasn't even there! Congrats to your lady and you may want to look at a second job to keep her stocked in ammo now...

Congratulations to the wife. I bet she will be hooked from now on.

I'm so jealous. I've been trying to get my lady to go squirrel hunting with me so we can work her way up to hogs.
Congrats. up cheers

Went back tonight and didn't see a thing. She blamed it on me and that she had better luck without me LOL.

It started that night. She said she wants to do it herself next time though. Now Igbo can only get her this enthused about mowing the yard hmmmmmmmm. She very independent.

if she shoots that good then i wouldn't mess with her. i would build yourself another stand and/or stay at home and ask her how many marshmallows she wants in her hot chocolate when she gets there.

congrats to both of you. i finally got my wife to bait her own hook when we go fishing.
