I still plan on it, but it will be a few weeks before I am at the 200 yard range I go to.

I suggest a contest, "Shoot what ya hunt with". Let's keep it simple all that is required is a 5 shot group at 200 yard's. The target must be witnessed and signed by another member who is competing in the contest, a photo must be submitted. You only get one shot at this, Y'all pick the day your going to shoot. I'm talking bragging Rights!

I see no need to limit this to Rem's and Salv's.

I have a question about scoring. Are we taking accuracy AND precision into consideration? I just opine that you can't have a real shooting contest among hunting rifles unless you do.

Well I know it isnt within the restraints of the braggin rights contest, but went down to the ranch this weekend to fill feed and get in one last hunt and figured what the heck, im going to shoot at 200 and see what hapens! Not a great group, but the first time I have shot at 200 i was happy. Rested off of a mesquite log while sittin on the ground. Measures 2.7 inches from top edge to bottom edge. Shootin a 270 win in a Rem 700 sendero and 150 grain hornady interlocks.

There for what it is worth.

Ok, finally went and gave it a go.
1st group fired.
1.365" outer edge to outer edge
0.308" bullet diameter
1.057" net = 0.5 MOA
Used my 308 hunting set-up that I used all season.
Fired prone off bipod and rear bean bag.
Orange dot is 1" in diameter on a 3x5 card.

Looking at the jeffbird's notes, he is using a AI AW (Accuracy International Artic Warfare) chambered in 308 Win.

If you really want to see which gun "Remington or Savage" is the most accurate....use your individual data to find out who is the best shot and then have that person shoot all the rifles!

Might should put a qualifier in that the person doing the shooting cannot own the type rifle he is shooting.

Just food for thought!!

I am the only person I know that actually puts them side by side and see's instant results. up Case in point, these were shot back to back at 210 yards. A FNH SPR, Savage 10 and Rem SPS. At the end of the day anyone of these can come out on top, it's really a coin toss and a moot point.

Banger,

Good looking bunch of stuff there and definitely some shooters.. up

You are so right.....but it sure is fun messin' with people! rofl I've never had an Elk or Deer get up and complain because my shot was 1/4" high ,or give me any stuff about what kinda rifle I was shooting.

Let's see what else I can think of.....
OK how bout this .... we got to separate them all by caliber 22's, 25's, 27's, 28's........30's single, lever, bolt, auto, mags, ford, chevy, dodge, glasses, contacts, age etc...

I will say the idea of getting a bunch of guys together to shoot is interesting though!
Keep Them Targets Comin'.......... peep OK OK ..... I'm leaving !!! bolt

Obviously impressive, but it's a different game altogether. That is an obviously great group, but it is a foot from the bullseye. For hunting, putting it on the bullseye is of paramount importance.

Your challenge here is a good one for folks using their real hunting gear. Wish more would go out and give it a go. It's as fun as it can be frustrating, but it is fun.

Excuse my ignorance but I have a question. Are yall measuring best group as it relates to the bulls eye on a target or just the best group regardless of where it prints on paper?

I'm in on this. I'm a very novice shooter, w/ a very entry level rifle. Sami will be my witness, and I can get Tanner to also be my witness.
