For years I carried an HK P2000SK in .40, but recently switched to the cheaper Springfield XD .40 SC. For some reason or another, I just like the feel of the Springfield better. And, if I screw it up, it's definitely cheaper than the HK.

I no longer carry automatics.....due to potential reliability issues. I suggest looking at the variety of J-frame revolvers Smith & Wesson offers. I carry the model M&P 360 and I could not be happier. Good luck..... I echo this sentiment as well, no so much because of reliablitiy, but more for simplicity and concealment is better for my body type, and clothes worn in the warmer months. X3--I carry a S&W mod 60 and keep my Sig 220 close by in the truck..

FNP-9 with the 5.11 Holster Undershirt - works great.
For the fellow wanting a revolver - I highly suggest the S&W Bodyguard 38+P .

I would seriously look at a .38 revolver, and not a hammerless one. It would give you DA/SA like you want and they are not very heavy compared to a steel SA carry pistol like a Hi-Power, 1911, or CZ.

Kimber CDP II, I like full size guns and love 1911's, but some don't like carrying a gun with the hammer cocked. Shoot some and find what you like and carry it, you'll be more happy then taking our suggestions

I second the "shoot as many different guns as you can then decide" idea.
As for my .02; I carry fullsize 1911s in shorts and a tshirt with no problem but I am looking at getting a small frame .45 ACP at under $400. What has my eye right now is the Bersa .45. It's a knock off of a Walther but it's built well, shoots well, and, most importantly, it's reliable and it comes with a 7 rnd mag. For a small auto, this is one of the best values I know of.
As for revolvers, I like the S&W Bodyguard also. $450 for a S&W .38+p with a factory laser is REALLY hard to beat.

In the same size range you can get a Taurus PT145 Pro, and it holds 11 rounds of .45. I really liked mine for a carry gun... My new favorite is the CZ75 compact. Perfect size for carry, extremely accurate, and well suited to my tastes...

It's alot thicker than the Bersa but a revolver would be thicker than either, lol. A good option though.

I carry a Sig P245 (which is now called the P220 Compact). If I need something smaller I go with My S&W Model 36.

Kahr trigger is DAO but it's really not that bad. I am fairly impressed by it. I preferred carrying cocked and locked but it was either a Kimber Pro or Sig P238. I found the middle ground with a Kahr PM9. I do like the deep concealment of the 238, the PM9 is almost all around comfortable as the 238.
