from what pigman says... they just know you are there and wait until you leave... http://www.smithsonianmag.com/science-nature/A-Plague-of-Pigs-in-Texas.html?c=y&page=4

“It sounds like a hog might be over around those trees,” Pig Man whispers, pointing to our left. “It sounded like he popped his teeth once or twice. I can promise you there’s pigs close by, even if they don’t show themselves. Those deer will stay however long they can and never notice us. But the pigs are smart.”

The next morning, Tom shows me some flash photographs of the feeding station taken by a sensor camera about a half-hour after we left. In the pictures, a dozen feral pigs of all sizes are chowing down on corn.

are you up or down wind from them? (not being funny) they might be smelling you. are you using feeder or kill lights? what color?

(being funny) kill the scout and the rest are in the freezer and turn off the ringer on your cell phone.

"What we have here is a failure to communicate". You and your hogs need to get you times straightened out. It seems to happen to me a lot like that too. You can stay there all night and they will come in right after daylight after you leave. It does get frustrating sometimes.

LOL. welcome to the wonderful world of hog hunting! Besides what color lights i would ask other questions.

Are they on all night? do they go off at a certain time? do the hogs come in after they go off? Are you lighting them up upon entering the area?

If you are a hundred yards out i would not consider order to drastically. Let me tell you what I do and then you can make your own observations.

My stand is literally around 20 yards or less from my enclosed pop up blind which sits on a raised 6 foot platform (off the ground). I have a Lowes solar powered LED light that I painted the lens green with a permanent marker which lights up the base of the feeder from around 12 to 15 feet away. I also have a camera on the other side pointed in the direction of the light. So I have the feeder and light in the view. Why? I can always see when the hogs are coming in and whether the light is on as well. Oh and my stand is to the left of the light roughly 10 feet and back a few feet. Based on all the camera footage my hogs come in on an average time of 8pm to 9pm but it does very at times. What time do I show up when I want a hog? No matter what I show up at sunset and stay in the stand. LOL. On a side note I also have a back up lighting system controlled from my stand should I lose the solar light. Get the hogs use to it. I also have a HAWGLITE attached to my bow or rifle. hopefully that helps a little. Oh yeah I almost forgot, lots of corn in the spot i want them to be!

What about wind direction? Is your stand upwind, or down-wind of the feeder? What about the path you take to get to your stand, will the pigs have to cross where you walked to get to the feeder?

Maybe you have some smart hogs that can smell you and they just won't come in when they smell you are there. Are you a smoker? You are roughly 20 yards from the feeder? Why so close? Are you hunting with a bow? If so, you can still afford to move out a little further. It gives you more margin for error in that if you make any noise, the further out you are the less likely they are to here you. Same with your scent, the further out you are, the less likely they are to smell you. If it is your property, build you a tree stand down wind of the feeder that gets you at least 15 foot off the ground.

If you are shooting rifle, I'd move at least 50 yards, if not more out from the feeder. That way, you have insulated yourself, and your smell, from where the hogs will be. Always set your stand up such that you will be down wind from your feeder. If possible, DO NOT walk across, or down, any path that the hogs will use to approach your feeder. They WILL smell your scent and then they will be on high alert, if they don't vanish all together.

Otherwise, as mentioned, just climb in your stand, mind your wind, and your odor, and STAY LONGER in the stand.

A hog is nothing more than a bullet receptacle.
