Anybody know anything about these? There is a small nipple on the bottom of the carb of this '95 300cc model, and when I grab the quad and shake it a little bit, a few drops of gas drip out of that nipple. I looked around for a hose that mmight have slipped off of it, but couldnt find anything.

Sounds like the carb drain. If so there will be a screw to the side and it might have some trash keeping if from closing all the way. Open it up and let it drain the trash from the bottom of the carb. Worst case is you take it apart and clean it. Hope that helps.

i guess polaris carbs are simular because both of ours has the same tube coming from the bottom of the bowl. it is a bowl overflow. when the level of fuel in the bowl gets or goes to high when you shake it then fuel will come out. ours is just a long skinny rubber tube that hangs down so the fuel does not drip onto the hot engine.

it was the sign that our needle valve was sticking open and fuel was coming out strong.

stuck float. Sea foam might work. Walmart has it.

Either stuck float or you need to adjust the float from over filling the bowl. Buy you a carb rebuild kit and that should fix all.

I had the same problem, and a stuck float can lead to big problems. Mine stuck open and engine nearly blew, almost over compression. ended up with gas in the crankcase. Oh well, needed an oil change, carb clean and new plug anyway

i have worked on small engines for 6 years in a shop and i have NEVER seen one blow because of a stuck float. if the engine is flooded, it wont start period.

Now a days with this crappy gas if you don't use an engine it is well worth the trouble to put a cut off in the line and run the engine out of gas if you are not planning on using it for a while. That way there is nothing in the carb to get gummed up or stuck. Usually if the float is stuck the cylinder will fill up with gas and the starter will not turn it over. If it leaks past the cylinder into the crankcase it will dilute the oil, over fill it and if it does start will blow out the crank case vent.

If it is on the very bottom of the carb, it is the drain for the bowl. There should be an o-ring on the drain bolt that could be dried and cracked allowing the fuel to drip by. Some manufacturers won't sell that o-ring separately, making you buy a new drain bolt that will come with the o-ring.

No need to waste your money either on a rebuild kit. If you are gonna take it apart and check the float height, then just take it apart! As long as you dont tear the gasket on the bowl your in good shape. Sea foam wont fix it either if the float it out of adjustment. If its flooded, its flooded.
