Well never mind. Spikes has suspended manufacturing on their piston uppers due to some BCG issues. So the hunt begins anew.

I use a Ruger 44 mag deer carbine. I love it with the open sights, but i have been thinking of putting a red dot on it... I have to find a picitanny mount for it, and I could use my Eotech...

rifled barrel, remmington accotip 2 3/4 inch 385 gr sabot slugs. never tried over 50 yards yet but at 50 yards (distance from my stand to my feeders)freehand without the bipod, i hit the minnow bucket everytime and the bucket never moved. i thought i was missing so i aimed lower for the old boil pot it was sitting on and it didnt move either. havent tried it with the bipod but it should be better.

I can see it now, the pig just goes stiff legged, falls forward and on its side..... lays there a few seconds and then does the dust twister on his side... Hope that wasn't TMI, but man I love to shoot a pig! I use a Ruger No.1 25-06. It's perfection, for me.

Well like I said I really like using a bow but have used rifle during other times....I almost it goes back and forth like hunting the hogs more than deer...almost!!!
Took this Big old gnarly Sow with a CZ 550 American -w- Monarch 3-9x50 BDC @ 110yds, Ammo I prefer is the 180 gr WSTSP(old style silver tips). I used the set trigger and drilled the spot/hair I aimed at and she didn't move but 5 or 6 feet, maybe, till her brain(CNS system) informed her she was already dead and then dropped like a sack of dog food.

12 guage slug works pretty good. You have to get a little closer but that's part of the fun. I've also killed them with 000 buck and that's not bad either, kinda messy though.

Seriously looking at one of the day-night combo scopeNV setups from Cabelas on top of the AR and a supressor from that guy in Aransas Pass.
Although htat Saiga 12 looks like the Mother of All Slug Guns.

Was it that pink Chipmunk with the 4 power Weaver you were telling us about?

Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

I've only shot one hog with a rifle and it was with my old 722 in 223, that was my first one and around 25 years ago. All the rest have been with a handgun or a bow. I have three I'd like to try since that was my reason for buying them. A Taurus Thunderbolt in 45LC, Rossi Model 92 in 45LC and a 336 Marlin in 35 REM. Maybe this year!
