I thought I would bump this up. If your thinking of buying a new gun or you are new to hunting, you can puruse through these and find out what most of members use. If you have an interest in a particular firearm then you will know who to ask questions to.

444 Marlin and hard cast bullets. Drops any deer graveyard dead plus you can eat right up to the bullet hole! I've got two Marlins a "T" and a "P".

I just ordered another 270 last week and traded off my 300WMg Savage. I am getting another CZ 550 American with the single set trigger, like my 23 1/2" barrelled 9.3x62, and if this one shoots like I expect it to, then later this fall I'll swap or sell my Tikka 270 or the 338 WMg M70 Win Classic for another, my third, CZ in a 20" barrelled full stock something...maybe another 270 or '06, 6.5x55? or maybe even another 9.3x62 for something to use as a 75-100 yard brush gun on critters up to "elk or big piggies in the dark woods" size or bigger African stuff if I ever get to go. A 20" barrelled '06 will do everything I need stateside except the big bears... but a 9.3 throwing 286gr Partitions will do it even better than an '06 throwing 200's or Round Nosed 220's and is not too bad a bear gun either!!!

I prefer my 22 Ruger I bought from RedChevy. I use it for all my big game animals.

This is the thread that I posted in my first day here! How time flies.
I still use the 30.30, but as some of you know some lowdown, swampwater drinking, scoundrel, malefactoring crackhead stole my 7MM08.

This is my first post (as I write in tears... )
Quote:

7MM08 Remington here. Deadly little gun and fun to shoot. I have it all cammoed out and everybody wants to use it. But, they can want all they want to. Not gonna happen. It's 20 years old and solid as a rock.

375 H&H with 250 grain Barnes "X" is my favorite.
# 2 is my 35 Whelen with 225 grain "X" bullets
and,
# 3 looks like it may be my new CZ 458 Win. Mag. with 350 grain Hornady Round Nose Bullets.

My favorite deer rifle is a Winchester Model 70 Classic Featherweight in 270. If I were to buy a new one I would get a new Featherweight in 270WSM. I also prefer the Leupold Vari X III 3.5 to 10 scope.

Somehow missed this thread. Either that or I was afraid to admit that I as well got my deer rifle from "pink honda". 22lr.

My all time favorite was a Ruger in 25-06 I used to have. Wish I still did. My favorite now is a Rem. in .270.
